It’s tax season. For some people in the US, that means having to pay a big bill to the government. For others, it means getting a refund because they overpaid on their taxes throughout the year. A lot of people fall into the latter category, and so it’s safe to say many people will have some extra cash in their pocket these next few weeks. To give people something to spend their tax refunds on, various companies host Tax Day sale events, with video game retailer GameStop joining in on the action this year.
GameStop will be hosting two Tax Day sale events. The first runs from February 28 and concludes on March 6. Then the second event will run from March 7 to March 13. The Tax Day sale will give GameStop customers the chance to get some rather big games at a discount, including Nintendo Switch titles. The Nintendo Switch deals include discounts on some of the most popular Switch games, with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild discounted to $49.99 and Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle discounted to $19.99. Nintendo games rarely get discounted, so while the Breath of the Wild deal isn’t all that significant, it still gives people the rare chance to get the game at a lower price.
Other Nintendo Switch games will be on sale, along with a variety of PlayStation and Xbox titles. Some of the examples include Cyberpunk 2077 for $39.99 and Grand Theft Auto 5 for $19.99. Those interested in the GameStop Tax Day sale can also pick up newer games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla at a discount, with the open world game from Ubisoft available for $34.99 while the promotion is live.
As far as hardware goes, GameStop customers can pick up accessories like the PS4 Back Button and Nintendo Switch Pro controllers at a lower price than usual. And if they purchase a Nintendo Switch Lite console, they get a free collector’s set of Super Mario 16 oz glasses. Those looking to trade in consoles they already own can get an extra $50 trade-in credit when they trade any Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X systems.
And finally, GameStop customers can get a free clearance t-shirt if they purchase a $12 t-shirt during the Tax Day sale event.
