Nvidia May Release a GeForce RTX 3060 With 6 GB VRAM | Game Rant

As GPU technology improves, it can be harder and harder for PC gamers to decide which card to go for when upgrading or building new systems. Just last month, Nvidia announced it would be rolling out its GeForce RTX 12GB card which was released just yesterday, and was due to be priced significantly lower than many may anticipate for hardware of this calibration. Now rumors are beginning to circulate that it may be getting ready to launch yet another GPU.

According to a recent source, Nvidia may be looking to release an RTX 3060 Ampere graphics card capable of 6GB VRAM. The source points to a GPU brand being filed and submitted by South Korean firm National Radio Research Agency/NRRA. The listing hints at the possibility of a new GeForce card coming to the market.

Currently, there is not a lot to go on, but the fact that the company has done 6GB versions of earlier GeForce models suggests there is no reason it wouldn’t do the same for the 30 series. However, it’s worth pointing out that listing it doesn’t necessarily mean it will definitely be launched. Plus, it will all depend on whether or not supplies of the new GTX cards will be available again any time soon. Many PC gamers are still reeling from the lack of availability of current GPU hardware.

At the moment, it seems like Nvidia is flooding the market with products, especially given the aforementioned RTX 12GB and their midrange RTX 3060 GPU which was also released yesterday. There’s something to be said for being spoiled for choice when it comes to upgrading PCs, but it doesn’t seem to be doing anyone any good if users can’t get hold of them in the first place.

Not to mention that one of the reasons for the low supplies is potentially down to crypto miners hoarding as many GPUs as possible. It’s gotten to such a state that Nvidia announced yet another line of cards which would be designed specifically for mining. This way, it hopes it can help ebb the shortages that have plagued PC enthusiasts by splitting the market into those who want an RTX for gaming, and those who want one just for mining.

At this point, it’s difficult to know what to make of the rumored Nvidia RTX 3060 6GB version. Whether or not it will be a welcomed gap in a flooded PC gaming market, or even see the light of day at all, remains to be seen.
