Apex Legends Releases Original Song by Newest Legend Fuse

Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale Apex Legends continues to entice fans all over the world with its gameplay and lore-filled universe. It isn’t too often that games like Apex Legends release original songs, but that’s exactly what fans got today when Apex Legends released a ditty from Fuse himself.

Fuse is the newest Legend added to the game, having been released along with Season 8. Fuse has been a popular Legend since his release, with a charismatic personality and explosive abilities that synergize well with other Legends. Described as a “ladies’ man, man’s man, and all-around manly man,” the Bombastic Explosives Expert worked as a mercenary for most of his life on the planet Salvo. When the opportunity arose for him to join the Apex Games, he took it.

Apex Legends dropped the song on Twitter today, which seems to be called the “Outlaws’ Oath.” Fuse’s voice actor, Ben Prendergast, sounds like he is still the one singing the song. The video in the tweet even references the cinematic launch trailer for Season 8, which opens with Fuse playing a guitar around a campfire.

The song references the Bonecage, which was the fighting ring back on Salvo that was shown off in the “Stories from the Outlands: Good as Gold” animated short. It was here that Fuse gained a bunch of influence on Salvo, but also where he began to grow apart from his childhood friend, Maggie. Some lyrics go “In the Bonecage, I ride the victory road/In the Bonecage, I live to rock and load.”

This song is interesting because it adds a new depth to Fuse’s character that hasn’t been seen yet. It isn’t bombastic, like Fuse’s personality might imply, but more somber and reflective of his past. There is a lot to unpack in the relationship between Fuse and Maggie, so that probably influences the style of the song. Fuse’s childhood friend did inadvertently blow off his arm, and pretty much committed a war crime when she attacked civilians to get back at Fuse for joining the Apex Games, so Fuse could be wondering whether it’s all worth it.

Fans seem to be enjoying the song, which helps to show that Respawn has created a character that fans really like. Especially now that Wraith isn’t the most popular pick anymore, Fuse has probably risen in popularity with the player base. Plus, as an offensive Legend, he can pack a big punch, so there is probably a high satisfaction to playing him.

Recently, Apex Legends has hired a narrative historian, so it’s possible that the team is eager to keep expanding the lore of the universe, even with little moments like Fuse’s song. In the meantime, players will be able to enjoy the game with new content and special events for sure.

Apex Legends is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and will release for the Switch on March 9.
