As part of the celebrations for Pokemon‘s 25th anniversary, the clothing brand Original Stitch released new patterns based on Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire. There are currently 285 patterns of Johto and Hoenn Pokemon that can be used to customized shirts, bandanas, and masks. Throughout the rest of the year, more patterns will be released in different phases. The first phase titled “The Beginning of Adventure” was released today.
Original Stitch’s clothing line is only one of the many surprises Pokemon has prepared for its fans. The remakes Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shinning Pearl are up for preorder starting today and are expected to be released by the end of this year. Each of them can be purchased for $59.99 either physically or digitally and will be available for Nintendo Switch.
Original Stitch’s first Pokemon releases inspired by Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire include patterns of the three starters Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip, as well as designs for their evolutions. In total there are 34 new patterns based on the Pokemon that can be found during the early stages of the game. According to Original Stitch’s calendar, patterns will be released according to themes: Ground-type Pokemon patterns will be released by April, Ocean-themed by July, and Sky-themed by September. The shirts have a starting price of $100 dollars while the polo shirts start at $85. Original Stitch allows customers to choose between different types of collars and sleeves in addition to the many patterns it offers.
Pokemon has collaborated with Post Malone to create a track that will be released tomorrow at 7:00 P.M. EST. The Pokemon Day virtual concert will be streamed via Pokemon‘s official website, Twitch, and YouTube. Post Malone also released a cover of Hootie and the Blowfish’s “Only Wanna Be With You.” Katy Perry also collaborated with Pokemon as part of its 25th-anniversary celebrations. The collaboration was announced through a nostalgia-filled trailer.
While most of the celebrations for Pokemon‘s anniversary have been targeted towards the people who experienced the first generation of Pokemon, Pokemon has also prepared surprises for the newer fans. Pokemon collaborated with McDonald’s to release collectible cards as toys for its Happy Meals. So far, McDonald’s cards have been so successful they have been subject to scalping, meaning some people have been purchasing Happy Meals in bulk to increase their chances of obtaining a variety of cards. However, this practice makes it harder for fans to collect the cards if they do not purchase Happy Meals in bulk as well.
