Elden Ring production severely impacted by remote working, game unlikely to be out this year – report

It looks like there are very good reasons why Elden Ring has been absent for nearly two years.

Elden Ring, first announced in June 2019, has been alive only in the memory of FromSoftware fans, because its developer and publisher have not shared any new details, released new trailers or even put out a single new image since that day.

With Elden Ring being FromSoftware’s most ambitious project, there was always the chance things would take longer than usual, but nobody could have quite predicted a nearly two-year drought.

The main reason behind all this, according to VGC, is the damned global coronavirus pandemic, particularly how it forced everyone to work from home. This change, according to people familiar with the studio’s plans, disrupted the development schedule in major ways.

According to the report, the game has been delayed multiple time internally. One person speaking to the site said that Elden Ring likely won’t be out this year as a result.

As for the next trailer/news drop, it at least sounds like we’re getting close, as the report talks about portions of a leaked trailer, which indicates that From and Namco are preparing to re-reveal the game one way or another soon.

It probably won’t be at Xbox’s rumoured March event, however, as the platform’s marketing boss recently shot down those rumours. Until the moment comes, we’ll keep reading some fake lore and imagining what could be.
