Pokemon GO allows players to encounter Pokemon in a variety of ways, ranging from simple wild encounters to formidable Team GO Rocket boss fights. One of the primary ways to find and capture powerful Legendary Pokemon, however, is simply challenging them in Raid Battles.
Raid Battles allow Pokemon Trainers in Pokemon GO the opportunity to defeat, and subsequently capture, powerful Pokemon. Depending on the Raid’s star rating out of five, the encountered Pokemon can range from common creatures like Magikarp to five-star legends like Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.
Now that the Raid Boss rotation has changed yet again, Pokemon Trainers can find a new Legendary Pokemon in five-star Raid Battles. Rather than the Kanto favorites being featured throughout the last several weeks, trainers now have the chance to encounter Landorus in its cloud-mounted “Incarnate Forme.” Landorus (Incarnate Forme) will remain in five-star Raid Battles until March 6, 2021, at 8:00 AM (local time), and will be followed by week-long features of Tornadus’ and Thundurus’ Incarnate Formes, respectively.
Landorus (Incarnate Forme) bears the incredibly unique Ground/Flying dual typing. As such, it’s only weak to Water and Ice-type Pokemon moves. Players should note that it is doubly weak to Ice-type, though, so Ice attacks will fare best. It can be encountered as a Shiny Pokemon, so players should absolutely lookout for that, and otherwise, its relevant details are as follows:
- Landorus (Incarnate Forme) – Ground/Flying-type | “The Abundance Pokemon”
- Recommended Trainers: 2 – 3 Pokemon Trainers; 4+ should be a cakewalk
- Fast Attacks: Mud Shot (Ground), Rock Throw (Rock)
- Charged Attacks: Earth Power (Ground), Focus Blast (Fighting), Outrage (Dragon), Rock Slide (Rock)
As noted above, Trainers are highly encouraged to take advantage of Ice-type Pokemon and attacks; however, if Landorus happens to be making use of Focus Blast, those Ice-type Pokemon might have a particularly tough time. Therefore, Water-types in general are the safer bet, as they’ll be able to deal Super Effective damage while resisting nearly all of Landorus’s possible attacks in Incarnate Forme.
Excellent choices are as follows:
- The Best: Mega Abomasnow, Galarian Darmanitan, Mamoswine, Mewtwo (Ice Beam), Weavile, Jynx, Glaceon
- Budget Options: Beartic, Abomasnow, Alolan Ninetails, Piloswine, Vanilluxe, Cloyster, Glalie, Kingler, Gyarados, Cryogonal
As always, players should always prioritize a Pokemon’s attacks over species in these situations. Which is to say: if planning on using any of these Pokemon, make sure they can use Ice-type Attacks. Whether or not a player is fighting this Pokemon, or even one of the other Incarnate/Therian Legendaries, a Pokemon’s attacks will generally be more useful than its own typing. Without Ice attacks, an Ice-type Pokemon is as good as any other basic counter. Armed with Ice-type (and Water-type) attacks, however, these Pokemon will give Landorus (Incarnate Forme) a run for its money.
Pokemon GO is available now on mobile devices.
