Snoop Dogg’s relaxed rapping lines and ability to flow in and out of both absurd and systematically perfect rhymes while tackling hard-hitting subjects like the death of his friend Tupac are as legendary as his chilled out, possibly weed-induced persona. Combined with the apparently calm, Pokemon focused Twitch platform lately, it becomes increasingly surprising that Snoop Dogg has rage quit his Madden NFL live stream. Again.
With the pandemic in full swing it seems almost inevitable that many celebrities and other people of public note are now streaming on Twitch. American politician Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has streamed Among Us on Twitch, and Canadian political NDP leader Jagmeet Singh has recently joined her. Comedians such as Thomas Middleditch also have Twitch accounts, but haven’t as yet rage quit in a manor as hilarious as Snoop Dogg’s minor tantrum a few days ago.
On his stream from February 28th, 2021, after a few expletives, knee slaps, and angry faces, Snoop Dogg simply gets up and leaves the room. Ironically, it is only then that the broadcast’s premise of “Sit Back, Relax, and Chill its a vibe in here” was fulfilled. Indeed, even fellow rapper Logic’s recent turn playing chess against Rainn Wilson couldn’t compete with the relaxed, fun times that ensued after Snoop Dogg accidentally left his stream going for hours and hours.
And hours it was. In the time that went by people simply hung out in the chat and, as one user put it, “vibed” with each other. Only after hour seven did the iconic rapper realize the stream was still going. At that point he quickly shut it down, but by that time fans had been enjoying one another’s company as well as Snoop Dogg’s accidentally curated musical playlist for an astoundingly long period of time. While streams of rarities like lost Sonic The Hedgehog prototypes tend to garner thousands of views on Twitch and last a while, it’s obviously rare for a stream where basically nothing is happening to get any views at all, not to mention last seven hours.
The stream ended up with over 180,000 viewers, most of whom never even saw the rapper playing Madden before he quit fifteen minutes in. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Snoop Dogg has rage quit while playing Madden, a fact that just goes to show that the mellow exterior isn’t always what it appears to be. While Snoop Dogg’s first rage quit was the result of a 17-6 score, his most recent bout of anger came at the hand of a few bad plays.
Of course, almost every gamer has been in that rage-filled state at one point or another themselves. Regardless, unlike a famous incident involving a broken keyboard and Doom creator John Romero, it appears that Snoop Dogg walked away from the video game induced rage without destroying any of his personal property. As for what might happen next time on Snoop Dogg’s Twitch stream, fans of the industrious rapper will simply have to wait and see.
