The Witcher 3: Every Kind of Elementa In The Game | Game Rant

In a game filled with dangerous monsters who can easily kill Geralt if he’s not careful enough, elementals still stand out. As their name suggests, they have a close connection to a certain element. That might sound harmless at first but the player quickly changes his mind when the first elemental tries to burn Geralt alive. The elementals might not be as fast as other monsters or as clever but that doesn’t mean they’re not dangerous.

In fact, their stubborn nature and resilience to most tricks Geralt can use make them truly formidable opponents in The Witcher 3. Even more, so that Geralt often encounters them somewhere unexpected and needs to deal with them all of a sudden.

8 Gargoyles

The stone forms a gargoyle’s body. As such, it’s pointless to try and block their hits. Instead, Geralt should roll out of the way and hit back whenever possible. Gargoyles also like to throw heavy stones at people which can also hurt them and they can poison the opponents they face. Signs like Igni and Aard are useless against gargoyles. What helps are the Dimeritium bombs and the Yrden sign, to a certain degree. Quen also helps to protect Geralt from the impact. A gargoyle appears in the quest Wandering in the Dark in Velen.

7 Golems

Just like ice elementals, magic revives golems. Their goal is to fulfill the task the mage who revived them ordered them. They’re extremely strong, patient, don’t tire, and using Witcher signs against them seems almost pointless. The only weakness a golem has is acid so Geralt should coat his sword before he takes on a golem. The Yrden sign and the elementa oil help to a certain degree but above all, Geralt should focus on dodging the golem’s hits.

The game features several prominent golems. In the quest Wandering in the Dark, Geralt and Keira Metz come across a golem guardian. Fighting the golem can be a challenge, especially since this happens early in the game. And a special Moreau’s Golem appears in the DLC Blood and Wine.

6 Ice Elementals

Unsurprisingly, ice elementals thrive in cold places. They’re at home in Skellige, with its almost eternal snow and ice. An ice elemental is dangerous as it follows a mage’s orders. And it won’t stop until it fulfills them.

They’re very strong so it’s best to dodge their hits and keep attacking them with a sword. The only thing that helps is the Dimeritium bomb and the Yrden sign can slow them down.

5 Fire Elementals

Fire elementals do a lot of damage by throwing fire at Geralt. Luckily, Geralt can use the Aard sign to extinguish the flames for a short period of time. He shouldn’t use Igni at all as it only helps the fire elementals and they grow even stronger. Freezing them, on the other hand, by using the Northern Wind bomb, proves very useful in the fight. Geralt meets multiple fire elementals in The Witcher 3, for example, one is guarding Philippa Eilhart’s hideout in the quest Redania’s Most Wanted.

4 Earth Elementals

The third elemental that can do a lot of damage is the Earth elemental. They’re not extremely fast but once again, their blows have a devastating effect. Geralt should stay out of their way of the Earth elemental’s fists – and also avoid the stones they will throw at him. The best options for fighting them include using Quen for Geralt’s shield and a Dimeritium bomb or two.

Geralt faces an Earth elemental when he and Yennefer break into Ermion’s secret chamber during the funeral feast. Another Earth elemental, called Therazane, lives in Novigrad under the Moldavie Residence. Geralt can break it free and fight it during the contract Doors Slamming Shut.

3 Djinn

Unlike with other elementa, only one djinn appears in the game. The fight is very challenging and Geralt should make good use of his Dimeritium bombs. The djinn will try to electrocute him so Geralt’s best bet is to try and stay out of reach.

He should also use the Axii and Yrden sign against the djinn as it will slow it down. But if Geralt does manage to defeat him during the quest The Last Wish, he and Yennefer might get their happily-ever-after – as long as he tells her he still loves her.

2 Hounds Of The Wild Hunt

The Wild Hunt hounds follow the Wild Hunt’s riders. Alternatively, the riders can summon them to their side. Geralt faces many of them during the battle at Kaer Morhen. They’re most dangerous when they create ice spikes around them. Geralt should try to avoid the spikes as much as possible. The hounds are weaker than the Wild Hunt warriors but can still do a lot of damage. Especially if they attack in a larger number. Since they rely on their ice powers, a shot of Igni can help against them.

If the Wild Hunt Hound separates from the hunt, it can become even more aggressive. A lone hound destroyed beehives and killed several farmhands in the quest The Apiarian Phantom. It doesn’t take long for Geralt to realize that the mysterious phantom is, in fact, a Wild Hunt Hound, after which he deals with him fast.

1 Pixies

Pixies are a rare type of elementa. Geralt only meets them once in the game, and only if he chooses to go to the Land of a Thousand Fables. The pixies there used to be friendly but they attack intruders. They appear at random places multiple times and Geralt has to kill them. The pixies have the form of shadows and they always attack in a larger group.
