Valheim: 9 Tips For Defeating Yagluth | Game Rant

Casual gamers and professional streamers alike have found themselves playing Valheim and it’s easy to see why. Exploring Viking purgatory would be fun enough, but add to that its unique take on the survival genre and it becomes too fun to put down. It’s the perfect game to play with friends, to boot.

One of the toughest challenges in the game is defeating the final boss — Yagluth. This cursed skeleton of Viking nightmares can be a serious challenge to take down for those who try to unprepared. Knowledge is power, and we’ve got the kind of power here that can take Yagluth down.

9 Know How To Summon Him

To be able to summon Yagluth, players will need to collect five Fuling Totems to be able to place in his creepy hand. These can only be found by killing Fuling Shamans. They’re a bit uncommon to come across so be prepared for a bit of a grind. Luckily, they are always guaranteed to drop a totem whenever they are defeated, so players don’t have to be worried about hunting them down for too long.

8 Eat A Meat-Based Meal

Fighting a massive death skeleton seems like it would be far harder on an empty stomach, right? This shows up mechanically in the game as well. Meat-based food gives players a higher health boost than any other options, so players should consider making something like Blood Pudding, Lox Meat Pie, or Serpent Stew. It’s always easy to get seafood as well — just grab a fishing pole.

7 Come With The Best Weapons

It’s the end of the game and the final boss isn’t going to go down easily. Vikings had best come prepared, bringing the best weapons and knowing when to use them. Blackmetal Swords are the most efficient damage dealing weapons in the game and are an excellent choice for warriors hunting down Yagluth.

Players should also consider doing the work to craft a Draugr Fang. No matter what arrows are fired from it, it deals extra poison damage to enemies. It makes the battle against Yagluth a lot easier during the times players are forced to keep their distance.

6 Craft Strong Armor

When it comes to armor, there are two choices that serve players well in their fight with Yagluth — Padded Armor and Wolf Armor. Fortunately, most wise players have crafted Wolf Armor by this point in the game to explore the Mountain Biome, which saves a lot of time. When Yagluth’s attacks hit, they hit hard so it’s best to come prepared to take damage like a champ.

5 Keep Comfortable

Comfort is a mechanic a lot of people overlook in Valheim. While in most games decorating is purely for aesthetics, Vikings apparently need to have amazing-looking homes to keep their spirits and stats up. Players will want to make sure the comfort meter is raised as high as possible as it will make them lose health and stamina slower. These small edges in battle can help taking down a beast like Yagluth.

4 Bring Fire Resistance Wine

One of Yagluth’s most powerful attacks comes in the form of his fire breath. Players caught in it will likely die without having some Fire Resistance Wine to support them. Players should have long had a fermenter by this point so they shouldn’t have a problem making some. It only takes ten Barley, ten Cloudberries, and a bit of patience to make and will come in very handy during the fight.

3 Pay Attention To His Fists

Depending on what color Yagluth’s fist is glowing, he will do a different attack. As his attacks are a bit slow, paying attention to this can make it easier to dodge his attacks and avoid taking serious damage.

When his fist glows blue, this means he’s about to use his “Explosive Pound” attack where he slams his fist onto the ground. This causes a large explosion. When his fist glows orange he is about to summon a meteor shower. At this point, it’s time to dive, duck, dip, dive, and dodge.

2 Try Taming Lox Beasts

While many players know they can tame Boars or Wolves, not everyone realizes they can also tame Lox Beasts. These critters likely won’t survive an entire battle against Yagluth, but will certainly help deal enough damage to be a real help. For those playing the game as a single-player experience, it’s practically vital to have some of them to be able to win the fight.

1 Bring Friends For The Fight

Valheim is far more fun when played with friends and a fight against Yagluth is particularly easier with teammates around. This is not only because more weapons = more damage, but because Yagluth will only focus on a single enemy during his fire-breathing attack, leaving him open to attacks from everyone else in a group. Try this out in a dedicated server and see just how much easier the fight becomes!
