10 Unresolved Mysteries & Plot Holes Left Hanging In Persona 5 Strikers

Persona 5 Strikers is a straight-up sequel to the original release, taking place a few months after that game ended. Joker returns to Shibuya to visit his friends for the summer and of course, things don’t go according to plan. There are some more nefarious deeds in the Metaverse and only the Phantom Thieves can solve them.

It should be noted that the events in Persona 5 Royal are not canon for this game as apparently, that was more of a what-if scenario. This is the real deal though. Before diving into what was and what wasn’t answered in this game’s plot, it should be mentioned that are spoilers ahead.

10 Where Is Igor?

Lavenza takes over The Velvet room in the absence of Igor in this game. Where he is, is never really explained although she does seem concerned. This could point to another spinoff game that could release in the future that takes place simultaneously with this game’s arc. What that could be about is tricky to think of although maybe it will involve the boy detective, Goro Akechi if he is somehow still alive.

9 Does Akane Know What Really Happened?

After her Jail is closed, Zenkichi makes some remark to the Phantom Thieves that he needs to explain things to Akane.

Players will see the beginning of this explanation as he sits beside her bed but what he says after is unknown. Does he tell her that he is in the Phantom Thieves now or that she almost became a lost soul in the Metaverse? What exactly does she remember if he doesn’t say anything?

8 Owada Rushed To Justice

It is a bit strange that Owada was set up to be one of the game’s big baddies and then was seemingly dropped. Maybe this was done on purpose to show that this game is different than Persona 5, where the team apprehended Shido as the political conspirator. Doing that twice may have been seen as overkill. If Owada never had a Jail set up then he was powerless to stop the Phantom Thieves anyway. Either way, he is shuffled off to jail without much fanfare and that is still odd.

7 Where Are The Parents?

Futaba has Sojiro, Makoto has her sister Sae, Haru’s parents are both dead, and no one else seems to have parents or guardians of any sort. That can’t be true but the fact they aren’t seen is weird. The most suspicious of all is Joker. Just what exactly is his home life away from Shibuya? Is he happy? Does he have friends and a loving family? What’s going on?

6 How Did They Steal That Blimp?

In Kyoto, in order to make it known to Akira that the Phantom Thieves were targeting his Desires, they stole one of his blimps. It is not explicitly stated whether or not they got in the blimp or merely highjacked it via hacking. Futaba seemingly can use magic via hacking throughout the game anyway so that seems like the right bet. That said, hacking a blimp to then litter the ground with Calling Cards is a lot to plan and produce even with the help of Zenkichi.

5 Do They Still Have Their Powers?

At the end of Persona 5, it seemed like all of their powers went away. Morgana was almost lost but he came back which should have been a big enough sign to point out that their powers were still around in some capacity. There is no real send-off in this game the same way, making it seem like it is pretty clear they are still powered up. Will they return for another adventure though? That’s the bigger question.

4 Romance Pushed Aside

There is one instance in the game where players can romance a team member. It can be a friendly guy’s night out on the Ferris Wheel or things can get romantic with one of the ladies. This takes place after the Sapporo Jail is complete. There are options to keep it plutonic with a girl, but one can make it clear they want to date, like Makoto, for example. It’s odd that if this is done and they accept, it is never reflected again in the game.

3 Why Wasn’t Sae Shown?

Someone else huge was missing from this game other than Igor, Sae. She is discussed before she comes in to break Zenkichi out with her lawyer powers but this is done in a first-person perspective. She is heard later on as well but why was her body hidden? It’s not like they couldn’t get the model back. Something must be up with her visually and Zenkichi would not detect it so maybe this is a sequel setup for a big reveal of some sort.

2 Ichinose Should Be In Jail

There are two big questions that don’t add up with Ichinose. Why did she help the group out? Was she just toying with them? That usually is the villain’s motive in games.

Bigger than that, why isn’t she in jail? The real jail and not the magical Jails. She says she tried to turn herself in but no one believed her. And yet the other Monarchs also say magical stuff and they are taken away. It’s a weird cop-out to let her go and be happy with Sophia.

1 How Was Sophia Born?

The biggest mystery in this game is Sophia. How can an AI gain a body in the Metaverse, let alone a Persona? Morgana can turn into a cat person and a bus but he was born already in that world, giving him greater power one could surmise. Why Sophia was born from a cube is also odd but the Metaverse is magic after all so apparently these questions don’t matter. The question fans might care about more is if she will get a robot body in the real world in a future update.
