Rust Console Version Releases Teaser Trailer | Game Rant

Rust has been seeing something of a resurgence as of late, with the game launching back to the top of Steam’s sales charts in January and becoming a fixture of the streaming scene again thanks to huge names like Jacksepticeye, xQc, and Pokimane. Although ports have been in the works for a while, it seems developers Facepunch Studios and Double Eleven are now getting ready to finally release the game on other platforms.

Revealed via Double Eleven’s YouTube channel, Rust has released an official teaser trailer for its console ports, which will be coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4. A firm release date for the game has not been provided, although a recent ESRB rating appeared to hint that it will be sooner rather than later.

The trailer begins with a lone protagonist navigating Rust‘s world dressed in a hazmat suit, with the figure equipping a double-barrel shotgun and loading it before pressing ahead. The footage then cuts to the player engaged in several heated firefights with online opponents, using machine guns and other weapons to mow down their foes. The trailer concludes with its protagonist running up on another player cutting down a tree, pulling out the shotgun shown earlier in the clip and firing a shot at their head. It doesn’t reveal much about the console port, but it does seem to imply that the PC version’s exhilarating PVP action will remain the same.

For those unacquainted with Rust, it’s a multiplayer survival game in which online players build settlements, find resources, and fight other survivors. A big part of the title is grouping together and looting other settlements, and as the teaser shows, that can often lead to some brutal conflicts between players. Rust originally launched back in 2013 and has amassed quite the community over the years, becoming one of Steam’s biggest games.

Although it has routinely made its way into the top 10 items on Steam in recent weeks, it has had some major competition as of late. Since its release, Valheim has managed to climb its way to the top of Valve’s charts, remaining there for over a month. Much like Rust, the game is also a survival-focused online experience, except it centers heavily on players working together to build settlements and fight AI-controlled enemies. It’s based in a world inspired heavily by Norse mythology and Viking culture, seeing players build longships, construct mead halls, and fight against a series of intimidating monsters.

Rust is out now on PC, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions in development.
