Microsoft has been working hard to make its Xbox Game Pass service a must-have subscription for gamers. Xbox Game Pass gives subscribers instant access to over 100 games across consoles, PC, and mobile devices, and new titles are added regularly. But like most other subscription service, occasionally titles leave Xbox Game Pass, and now Microsoft has confirmed five games that will be leaving Game Pass in March.
On March 16, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be losing access to Alvastia Chronicles, Astrologaster, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Kona, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Out of those games, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is certainly the biggest loss for Xbox Game Pass, as it’s one of the most-award winning games ever produced. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt took home numerous Game of the Year awards in 2015, and is generally considered to be one of the best games ever made.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is another big loss for Xbox Game Pass, though not quite as significant as Witcher 3 leaving the service. For the uninitiated, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a spiritual successor to the Metroidvania-style Castlevania games like Symphony of the Night. It was well-received by fans of the genre and has helped spawn a franchise of its own, with other games in the series serving as homages to the NES-era Castlevania games.
Kona is not quite as well-known as Bloodstained or The Witcher 3, but it has its fans as well. Kona is reminiscent of walking simulator games, but the gameplay is far more involved than other titles. Survival elements are thrown into the mix to add some extra challenge, and while it earned mixed reviews, anyone intrigued by the premise may want to prioritize playing it before it’s removed from Game Pass.
While games are removed from Xbox Game Pass regularly, other titles are added as well. In fact, today saw the addition of Madden NFL 21 to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and Star Wars: Squadrons is coming to the service in the near future as well. It’s likely that there are even more Xbox Game Pass games coming soon as Microsoft likes to release them in batches, and the March batch has not been revealed at the time of this writing.
In the meantime, Xbox Game Pass subscribers should be sure to check out The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Kona, Alvastia Chronicles, and Astrologaster while they are still available.
