Monster Hunter Rise Confirms More Monsters From Monster Hunter World

Monster Hunter: World marked a bit of a departure from the handheld gaming roots of the series. With the extra power provided by consoles, it was able to bring new players to the Monster Hunter series with improved graphics and more intuitive cooperative play. Monster Hunter: World also introduced several memorable new monsters for fans to fight, and some of these monsters will make the transition into the series’ next title, Monster Hunter Rise.

Capcom has confirmed in the past that there would be some returning monsters from Monster Hunter: World. Shortly after the release of the Monster Hunter Rise demo, fans learned that the Barioth, Tigrex, and Rathalos would be in Monster Hunter Rise, though none of these creatures are exclusive to Monster Hunter: World. But with the release of a short video via the official Monster Hunter Twitter account, Capcom revealed a list of returning Monster Hunter: World exclusives.

Returning monsters from Monster Hunter: World are the Anjanath, Jyuratodus, Kulu-Ya-Ku, Pukei-Pukei, and Tobi-Kadachi. These monsters have variants like the Coral Pukei-Pukei or the Fulgur Anjanath but Capcom’s video only shows these monsters in their original forms. The addition of these monsters brings the total so far for Monster Hunter Rise to 55, but there will probably be more monsters revealed before the game’s launch.

Monster Hunter Rise will be centered around Kamura Village, which players will use as their base of operations before trekking out to go hunt for all these monsters. Hunters will get village quests from NPCs in Kamura, and Monster Hunter Rise developers have confirmed the game’s length is around 20 to 30 hours if hunters focus solely on these village quests.

But Monster Hunter games are known for all the extra things players can do even after they’ve completed the main story. Players often spend large amounts of time grinding out monster fights for materials to create full armor sets, and there will definitely be some cool new armor sets with the addition of new monsters in Monster Hunter Rise. With monsters like Anjanath and Jyuratodus now added to the game, there are more options to choose from when mixing and matching armor for aesthetics or elemental advantages.

Monster Hunter Rise will release on Switch on March 26, 2021.
