Call of Duty Mobile Survey Hints At The Return Of Zombies Mode

Call of Duty Mobile has proven to be an incredible success, with its multiplayer and battle royale offerings attracting thousands of players. Unfortunately, the Call of Duty Mobile version of Zombies did not satisfy fans in the same way, though developer TiMi Studios may be taking another crack at the classic survival mode.

Shortly after Call of Duty Mobile launched, a Zombies mode was added. While it had some interesting concepts like boss fights and objectives, as well as some classic maps to play on, the co-op mode never took off. In response, Zombies was surprisingly removed in March of last year, with TiMi Studios stating that the mode did not meet its standards when it came to quality. The studio did provide a bit of hope, however, suggesting that Zombies could return one day.

That day could be coming soon, as a new Call of Duty Mobile survey has hinted at the return of Zombies mode. The survey itself asks questions about what features Call of Duty Mobile fans want to see expanded upon, with one question hinting at the addition of Verdansk from Call of Duty: Warzone. However, the survey question that Zombies fans have picked up on mentions the mode directly, asking if fans would like to see a “co-op Zombies Mode” make a comeback. With iconic Zombies characters like Richtofen already in the game, the mode’s return makes sense.

The question is captured by the leaker @ModernWarzone, and it suggests that Call of Duty Mobile’s next take on Zombies would be more traditional. With the mode gaining its popularity from its round-based gameplay, which the question mentions, seeing it utilized in the Mobile variant would be a good way to ensure its success. That said, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies Outbreak mode has quickly been gaining in popularity, proving that objective-oriented gameplay can work well.

If a Zombies mode does return to Call of Duty Mobile, it will be interesting to see which maps are used. Early leaks of the game saw the divisive map TranZit used, while Shi No Numa was playable inside Call of Duty Mobile Zombies during its brief availability. Shortly before its removal, the original Zombies map Nacht Der Untoten was set to make a debut, meaning that TiMi Studios likely has the assets ready to go. Still, with several maps to pick from, there is plenty that can be done with a Zombies mode inside Call of Duty Mobile.

With Attack of the Undead being the closest players have gotten to slaying hordes of Zombies in Call of Duty Mobile since the removal, it would be great to see the mode return. However, with this purely being a survey question, players should not set their expectations too high.

Call of Duty Mobile is available now on Android and iOS mobile devices.
