Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Officially Adds Samantha Maxis Bundle To Shop

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies fans have been patiently waiting for Samantha Maxis to become a playable Operator since the game launched, and for old-school fans that wait has been even longer. Fortunately, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players need wait no longer, as Samantha can now be bought from the in-game shop.

Treyarch detailed Samantha’s bundle and backstory in a special blog post, hyping up its arrival. While the backstory is nothing new, it does provide a more concise rundown of everything the character has done in the Dark Aether storyline so far. Mentioning her mysterious childhood, rise through the ranks of the BND, and rescue during the Firebase Z main quest, the breakdown is a nice resource for fans invested in Call of Duty Zombies.

The remainder of the post details Samantha’s bundle, giving her default skin the name “Aether Cover.” Made up of bits and pieces from the old Zombies crew Primis, such as the goggles worn by Nikolai Belinski the skin is a great bit of fan service and a solid way to start off Samantha’s lineup of cosmetics. Like other Operators, players can expect the character to be given several special bundles inside the shop. This one costs 2,400 COD points, and it comes with a bit more than just access to Maxis herself.

The Z-74u SMG and Neutralizer Shotgun transform two of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s weapons, as the AK-74u and Gallo SA12 shotgun are given some standout redesigns. The Z-74u also boasts a reactive camo, with the fiery weapon evolving as players rack up kills in the game’s various game modes. Her “Maim and Tame” finisher is also highlighted, which sees Sam shooting foes in the knee before finishing them off.

Other items included in the bundle are a moving calling card called “Ominous Glow,” Requiem stickers, and two moving emblems named “Insta-Kill” and “Green Reaper.” Rounding out the bundle is the “Zombie Bunny” weapon charm, an item that should look familiar to fans of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. With this haunted bunny appearing in Firebase Z’s crate Easter egg and showing its face whenever the Mystery Box moves, fans being able to equip it may make the bunny less scary.

With Samantha now available, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players have the perfect Operator to play as in Zombie Outbreak. While her inclusion causes some inconsistencies in Firebase Z’s quest, as Samantha can now rescue Samantha, being able to play as her in every bit of content is exciting.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
