The Japanese mobile game Fate/Grand Order, which has been incredibly popular in terms of downloads, is getting a new limited-time event for Japan’s White Day by the name of “An Old Spider Spins Webs of Memory.” In it, players will team up with Sherlock Holmes’ arch-nemesis, Professor James Moriarty.
White Day, for those unfamiliar, is a holiday that functions as a sort of sequel to Valentine’s Day. In Japan and other Asian nations, Valentine’s Day is an opportunity for women to give chocolates and other gifts to the men in their lives, while White Day is held one month later on March 14 as the inverse.
Professor James Moriarty was first introduced in Fate/Grand Order’s Epic of Remnant story expansion’s “Pseudo-Singularity I: Shinjuku Phantom Incident” in 2019. In this new event, a forced Rayshift will take players to late 19th-century Europe, where Moriarty and the rest of author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes characters are from.
Once players collect enough event items from quests, they will be able to exchange them for Moriarty’s Spiritron Dress Wardrobe Key, which will unlock a new skin for the criminal mastermind. This event is set to begin right after the Fate/Extra CCC rerun event ends.
In line with the event falling on White Day, all Male Servants get a 50 percent attack bonus, but that only applies to the event quests within “An Old Spider Spins the Webs of Memory.” There will also be a special Chaldea Boys Collection, which will feature limited-time craft essences.
The Valentine’s Day event last month brought a new servant by the name of Murasaki Shikibu and added voice acting to cutscenes to Fate/Grand Order. Both the Chaldea Boys collection and Moriarty’s “An Old Spider Spins Webs of Memory” event begin on March 8. The latter will end on March 15, while the former will last until March 17.
Fate/Grand Order is available on Android and iOS devices.
