Later this month, Nintendo Switch players are finally going to get their hands on a new Monster Hunter game from Capcom. Monster Hunter Rise is a brand new title in the fan favorite franchise, offering new monster to hunt, plenty more verticality to explore, as well as new features and techniques like the Wirebug and palamute dog. Even with a number of weeks left, Capcom still has a few more surprises to share with eager fans.
The Japanese company kicked things off today with a new Monster Hunter digital event fill with new reveals and announcements. For fans that may have missed out on the demo from earlier this year due to its limited time release, Capcom is releasing a second demo later this week on March 11 with new content. In addition to the previous four quests, Capcom has added an Advanced Difficulty quest where players can go up against Magnamalo. However, the announcements didn’t stop there as teases for the first free post-launch title update were also shown off.
The trailer reveals that the first title update for Monster Hunter Rise will be coming in late April and as expected, brings new monsters with it. While Capcom is keeping the majority of the monsters a secret for now, the trailer did show off Chameleos, a large reptilian Elder dragon featuring horns and chameleon-like eyes that is adept with poison and can use camouflage to go invisible. Longtime fans should be thrilled with the reveal as Chameleos is a legacy monster brought back into Rise from older games like Monster Hunter 2, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, and more.
In addition to more monsters to hunt, the first free title update also unlocks the Hunter Rank cap as well as other new features, which Capcom isn’t quite ready to share with fans at this time. Similar to Monster Hunter World, players can expect a steady flow of free updates throughout the first couple of years for Monster Hunter Rise, and Capcom has teased even more monsters coming to the game through out 2021.
In addition to the Monster Hunter Rise news, Capcom also showed off a new trailer for the upcoming Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. Originally reveals last summer during a Nintendo Direct Mini partner showcase, Monster Hunter Stories 2 lets players create their own character for the more turn-based combat style game. A new trailer also confirmed previous rumors that the game is indeed coming to PC as well as the Switch, with a release date set for July 9.
Monster Hunter Rise will release on Switch on March 26, 2021 and PC in 2022.
