Overwatch Announces PachiMarchi Challenge | Game Rant

While many view the Overwatch hero Tracer as the game’s official mascot, the Pachimari is technically more deserving of that title. It seems like Blizzard will be leaning into the creature’s cuteness more than ever before, as a special new Overwatch challenge centered on the mascot has been revealed.

Like previous challenge events in Overwatch, players have roughly two weeks to complete all the objectives required to unlock the PachiMarchi content. On other challenge events, which are usually tied to a specific character like Hanzo, Mercy, or Symmetra, players are tasked with getting 9 wins in any game mode. At 3 wins, a spray or profile icon is unlocked, with the same occurring at 6 wins. At 9 wins, players usually unlock a special skin tied to the challenge.

Blizzard announced the PachiMarchi challenge via a brief teaser on the official Overwatch Twitter account, confirming that the event will be launching on March 9 and running until the 22. The Tweet’s text indicates that there could be a special brawl tied to the challenge. The video shows an absurd amount of Pachimari stuffed animals falling from the sky as well, something that adds to this idea. While it is unclear what the objective of this brawl could be, it is likely tied to the plentiful plushies in some way.

The stuffed animals are seen falling on the Hanamura map, implying that this location will feature in the event in some way. With Hanamura featuring machines in one of the spawns that show the stuffed animals of the onion-like creature, it makes sense that the map would feature in some way. Unfortunately, players have no idea what to expect from the event apart from its start date and an abundance of Pachimari-themed goodies.

Still, given past events, fans can expect some special cosmetic items to be unlockable over the next few weeks — all of which will likely be Pachimari-related. With several profile icons of the critters in seasonal getups already existing, fans can expect a couple more of these. Further, players should anticipate some special items tied to Overwatch’s heroes as well. For example, one character may get a Pachimari T-shirt, with the getup fitting of someone like D.Va. Further, emotes where characters interact with Pachimari, like Roadhog’s “Secret Friend,” could also be available. Victory poses that show characters holding one of the plushies are possible, too, though this is purely speculation.

With little officially confirmed through the event’s announcement, though, fans will just have to wait and see what tomorrow’s PachiMarchi launch day brings. While not getting any new Overwatch heroes until the sequel may be disappointing for some fans, surprise events like these should keep players going for at least a little while longer.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
