The design of the Xbox Series X is one that many enjoy. Whether it is the large rectangular design of the Xbox Series X or the simplistic white Xbox Series S, both consoles have a unique aesthetic. The controller is also very sleek, even if it does not look very different from the previous generation. One fan recently created a bevy of new color concepts for the Xbox Series X/S controllers, and the styles of them are impressive.
The Xbox Series X/S controller comes with multiple new features over the last-generation controller, but one thing it may still be behind on is colors. One fan on Reddit is looking to fix that by creating many different designs. Recently the designer shared their creations with other Xbox fans, and the commentators are big fans.
Reddit user u/PandillaXbox posted a thread on r/xboxone sharing nine different Xbox Series X/S controller designs. The colors range from greens to purples and yellows to browns. Each variation is simplistic but sleek; very much seeming like something that Microsoft would sell. Recently Microsoft released the Pulse Red Xbox Series X/S controller, and these designs by PandillaXbox certainly look like something that would fit right next to that accessory.
As amazing as these controller designs look, fans will likely be able to create their own Xbox Series X/S controllers soon when the Xbox Design Lab returns later this year. The design lab allows players to mix and match colors of the body, bumpers, ABXY buttons, thumb-sticks, and more to create their own unique controller. The lab was once live for Xbox One controllers, but was shut down in 2020. It will return in 2021, and all signs point to it coming back to support the Xbox Series X/S controller specifically. That is a great thing for anyone who wants to get their creative juices flowing – and for someone who wants to have a controller that feels like it belongs solely to them alone.
Fan-made console and controller creations are almost always fun to see. Sometimes those creations end up going into production for sale, like a Batman skin for the Xbox Series X/S and PS5, for example. There are plenty of creative artists out there, and seeing their work shared online is often inspiring. This is also why the Xbox Design Lab is invigorating, because it provides those architects an avenue to potentially access their creations for systems like the Xbox Series X.
