Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is a massive game, meaning that occasional server problems are to be expected. Unfortunately, the high-selling Call of Duty title saw its servers go down completely today, and this crash has happened not too long after another.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War servers were unavailable for several hours on Friday, leaving players unable to play online multiplayer or Zombies content. Though these server issues were eventually fixed, players were frustrated over the outage, as it led to many missing out on the chance to progress their battle passes or enjoy Season 2’s new content. Unfortunately, the game’s servers have gone down once again, crashing four days after the previous outage.
The news was shared by Activision Support on Twitter, with the company assuring fans that the issues were known about. Players were unable to join online matches for roughly an hour, with gamers on all platforms being impacted by the issue. The post shared a link to the online services page for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, with Activision posting updates on the site regularly. Fortunately, all issues seem to be fixed, with the site showing that servers are back online and functioning as expected.
Though these issues were far less troublesome than the last, as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was up and running in less than an hour after the outage, fans were quick to let Activision know about the issues. One Call of Duty fan named @its_menieb posted a humorous reply to the tweet, showing a photo of what he believes the Call of Duty servers look like. Groups of potatoes hooked together with wires were shown in place of actual servers, and the post was liked by 200 other fans.
While several other comments pointed out how the servers had just gone down Friday, citing a second outage as ridiculous. Others mentioned that Call of Duty: Warzone’s servers were struggling yesterday, though it seems like the issues were not as widespread. Most comments took a comical approach, though, with the unrelated post from @duragspade1 sure to get a few laughs out of fans. Asking Activision Support to nerf the FFAR, one of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s worst weapons, it seems like this fan is not too concerned about the recent connectivity issues.
With Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 2 showing improvement, it is a shame to see server issues stopping so many from enjoying the game. Hopefully, this will be the last outage for some time, as it is uncharacteristic of a Call of Duty game to have two major server crashes in a single week.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
