Like many other free-to-play games, Epic Games’ massively popular battle royale Fortnite allows players to purchase and earn V-Bucks to exchange for customizable skins, weapon decals, emotes, and more. Over the years, the game has built up quite an impressive repertoire of available skins, with a great number of crossovers as well, from Marvel superheroes to video game icons.
Since Fortnite‘s release, fans have drawn up their own creative skin concepts, and for quite some time now, the game has added many fan-made skins into the game, such as the Gingerbread Raider skin by Fercho and the Britestorm Bomber skin by SweetRabbit. Now, as the game remains as popular as ever, one long-awaited fan-made female counterpart skin has finally made it into the game, much to fans’ excitement.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 introduced fans to a new cast of original characters, including Midas, leader of the GHOST organization. Since then, Midas quickly became a fan-favorite character and skin in the game, and now, Epic Games has brought Marigold, a fan-made female counterpart skin, to Fortnite. The skin was originally designed by Fortnite concept artist kitsunexkitsu, and can be purchased as part of a special bundle right now for a limited time.
In Fortnite, fans can purchase the Golden Touch Challenge Pack, which comes with the Marigold skin, Golden Gambit Back Bling, Golden Daggers Pickaxe, and a set of special Quests allowing players to unlock up to 1,500 V-Bucks. The limited-time bundle can be purchased for $11.99 USD from the in-game shop, though it is currently unknown how long the bundle will be available for. The Marigold skin and Golden Gambit Back Bling have reactive variants which become more gold with each elimination the player gets. Additionally, any weapon picked up by players using the Marigold skin will also turn to gold.
Even though leaks have become custom for Fortnite, the Marigold skin leaked last week, exciting fans to no end. While the Marigold and Midas skins act as counterparts sharing their Greek-mythology-inspired theme, players previously had to level-up the Midas skin separately to obtain its gold variant, as opposed to becoming more and more gold with each elimination like the Marigold skin.
Just earlier today, Fortnite announced that Chapter 2 Season 5 is about to come to a close, as the game’s next season quickly approaches next week on March 16, along with the upcoming Zero Crisis Finale event. As players prepare for the new season, they are sure to see even more creator-inspired skins like Marigold in the future.
Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
