Marvel’s Avengers Update Lets Players Customize HARM Rooms

Marvel’s Avengers is gearing up to get frustrated fans back into the game, and it seems that the target date for the game’s turnaround is March 18. This day will bring the Clint Barton Hawkeye DLC as well as mark the release of Marvel’s Avengers on next-gen consoles, complete with upgraded features for the Xbox Series X|S and PS5. But now fans can expect another update to launch on March 18 as well. Players will be able to customize several different aspects of the HARM rooms so they can fully train for upcoming fights.

Marvel’s Avengers will not only be receiving new content on March 18. Part of the game’s reimagining will affect the progression system for characters and how players can obtain cosmetic items. Marvel’s Avengers’ major changes to XP and cosmetics will involve slowing down the rate at which characters level up in the game and will make certain cosmetic drops less randomized. Players who are already at the max level of 50 won’t be affected by the level progression changes and may also have a better chance to get endgame cosmetics. The announced HARM room update also might help spice up endgame grinding.

The HARM room update announcement comes in the form of a trailer posted by the PlayAvengers Twitter account. The first section of the video specifically highlights the HARM room functions on PC, probably because the video itself is sponsored by Intel. Whether the new customization features of the HARM rooms work best on PC isn’t confirmed yet, but the HARM room update for Marvel’s Avengers will release for all platforms on March 18.

In the update, players will be able to customize the build of their HARM rooms, choose what enemies to fight, and even add hazards to avoid. Multiple buffs can also be added to characters for players simply wanting to beat up on robots with no consequences. HARM rooms will also provide enemy count options, with Extra Large looking like it will practically fill the room with enemies.

Although this update will only add to the anticipation for March 18, it’s interesting that developer Crystal Dynamics didn’t drop one of these updates sooner. Fan have been clamoring for more content, but it seems big updates will continue to come all at once. Time between DLC updates has received little attention, including a small update last week that fixed an Iron Man bug but frustrated fans because of its perceived insignificance.

But there are still fans that believe Marvel’s Avengers isn’t as bad as some say, and that the game is headed down the right path to redemption. The game does have some fun combat mechanics and benefits from a large roster of unique characters. If Marvel’s Avengers can use March 18 as a push-off point for more frequent changes in the future, it may very well grab the attention of gamers once again.

Marvel’s Avengers is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions coming March 18.
