World of Warcraft: Shadowlands brings players together in a massive multiplayer fantasy RPG. As a constantly evolving experience, Blizzard has added many expansions and updates to the title over the years. The 9.0.5 update is out and bringing a host of changes to activities, rewards, and characters in World of Warcraft.
Though multiplayer is a persistent characteristic of the title, some players may feel the endgame is too dependent on PvP. After beating the main content, MMOs typically rely on grinding endgame content to improve equipment and make better builds. Blizzard is remedying this by changing certain aspects to be more flexible for players looking to solo World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.
The main update coming is the return of Valor Points, a currency that can be earned in Mythic Keystone Dungeons. By gathering these points, players can use them to upgrade Mythic Keystone equipment. The cap starts at 5000 and increases by 750 each week, but players can only hold 1500 at one time. This encourages fans to spend the points on items earned from beating the nerfed bosses in Shadowlands Dungeons. Plus, finishing a Mythic Dungeon after the timer ends will provide a second item, albeit at a lower level.
Blizzard is focusing on Covenants and Legendary items in this patch too. More options for crafting and upgrading Covenant gear in World of Warcraft can help players meet personal character aesthetics in this patch. This includes tweaks to runecarving Legendaries for classes like Death Knight and Druid. For Covenants, Night Fae can provide their reward without having to speak to them, and the Necrolord ability Fleshcraft has been remade. These are just some of the changes coming, along with a massive list of updates for character classes and even some PvP as well.
It is difficult to touch on just all the fixes coming to World of Warcraft in the 9.0.5 update. It is good to see Blizzard focusing on improving the game even with a release date over a decade ago. Though this is not the Chains of Domination reveal from BlizzCon this year, this is still a substantial update for the title. Even as an MMO, there are going to be players who aim to enjoy it solo. The fact that the team is willing to add in mechanics to accommodate this playstyle is important for maintaining fans.
Then again, with all the class tweaks coming in 9.0.5, some players could be left wanting more. Usually MMO players get heavily invested in character mechanics, so having sweeping changes can be frustrating if it ends up as nerfs. But fans of World of Warcraft will just need to hop in and experience all the updates in this patch to make a final decision.
