Xbox Looking to Fix Major Series X Console Issue | Game Rant

The Xbox Series X launch has gone relatively smoothly, inventory issues aside, but that doesn’t mean it’s been flawless. Luckily, the team over at Xbox is looking to make improvements to the system, with a beta update on the way for Xbox Insiders that should solve one of the biggest problems currently facing the new console, assuming the beta goes well.

Some Xbox Series X owners may have experienced the console randomly powering off while playing. A quick Google search will reveal a number of users venting about the issue, with a handful of posts landing back in November, when the console launched, describing the error. Normally, the Xbox Series X is designed to shut down if the console isn’t properly ventilated, but judging by the posts, the issue has been happening more or less randomly.

A new update being deployed for Xbox Insiders should fix the issue, which seems to be fairly widespread among users. In a blog post on the Xbox Insider website, Xbox detailed some of the changes that will be coming, citing “various fixes” for the powering-off issue. Obviously, randomly shutting down is never a good thing, as it can result in losing progress on top of the other issues that could negatively affect the hardware.

Keep in mind, this isn’t a fix that’s deploying for everyone, and only those that are enrolled in the Insider program will have access to the fix for the time being. Xbox didn’t give a time frame for the fix to be deployed to every console, and it likely depends on how well the beta goes, so it may be a minute before all players have a solid fix.

The powering down issue hasn’t been alone either. Xbox is investigating controller disconnection issues, which causes controllers to randomly desync and requires a multi-step process to get them back running again. So far, the powering down problem and the desync issues have been two of the most notable problems that the console has faced, though it’s reassuring to know that they’re being actively investigated.

Hopefully, Xbox is able to sort out the issues quickly. With the Bethesda acquisition now finalized, fans have a lot to look forward to from the platform, and hardware issues are an unfortunate distraction from what Xbox is working on. Once all the issues are sorted out, though, fans should have a strong platform for playing games at their disposal.

The Xbox Series X is available now.
