Bloodhound is unquestionably one of the best legends to use in the Apex Legends. The legend suits aggressive playstyles and can be used in every single Apex mode. Every team will benefit from having a Bloodhound, and the legend is one of the most adept at gathering intel on opposing teams. Bloodhound is also one of the easiest legends to use for new or returning players. The legend’s abilities are straightforward and have manageable recharge times.
However, many gamers that are new to using Bloodhound make a number of tactical mistakes while using him. Bloodhound is best utilized in close quarters gunfights and in the final zones. Much like Wraith, Bloodhound is a damage per second machine and should be used as such. Players that want to ease into a match and play defensively should choose another legend. Apex gamers that have not used Bloodhound yet need to give the scout a try. The following guide will help gamers that are new to Bloodhound maximize the legend’s effectiveness in game.
Bloodhound’s passive ability allows gamers to always know when an enemy is close. Enemy players will leave behind footprints and other clues which indicate that opposing players are in the area. Tracker allows Bloodhound players to prepare for gunfights before they occur. Bloodhound is one of the best team players because he is constantly providing information on enemy locations and movements. One downside to tracker is that all of the information can clutter the screen, especially during gunfights with multiple enemies. Apex players that see footsteps should probably use Bloodhound’s tactical, Eye of the Allfather.
Bloodhound’s tactical ability allows players to reveal enemies, traps, and other clues through structures in front of the character. The ability will essentially scan everything that is in front of where Bloodhound is looking. Gamers that believe there are enemies to the left and to the right should perform the scan in the middle to identify as many hostiles as possible. If players only know the location of one team, they should try to perform the scan to identify that team as well as another by backing up before performing a scan. After each use, Eye of the Allfather recharges in just 24 seconds.
Far too many Bloodhound players scan areas where they know enemies will appear. Eye of the Allfather should be used in places where enemies are not in an obvious location, or they cannot be identified. Bloodhounds should never scan players that they have already located. By scanning players that have already been located, Bloodhound will alert enemies to the presence of a scan. Gamers should use Eye of The Allfather and keep moving forward to extend the range of the scan. However, Bloodhounds should never push out of cover to complete a scan.
Beast of The Hunt is one of the best offensive ultimate abilities. The ultimate allows Bloodhound to see enemy players and increases Bloodhound’s mobility. All opposing players that are not out of sight will appear red on the player’s screen. Every time Bloodhound downs an enemy, the duration of Beast of the Hunt is extended. Bloodhound’s ultimate is best used in chaotic gunfights and final circles. Apex gamers that can string together two or three downs will be able to use Bloodhounds ultimate for extended periods of time. Players should try to find high ground and allow Beast of the Hunt to identify as many enemy positions as possible. Bloodhound mains have a responsibility when using their ultimate to communicate enemy locations and movement, as teammates will not see the illuminated enemies.
Players that use both Eye of the Allfather and Beast of the Hunt will dominate in third-party and endgame situations. Bloodhound is an extremely fun player to use, because the character always knows where enemies are before engaging. Opponents will not be able to hide from the aggressive legend at the end of matches either. Unlike many of the other legends in the game, Bloodhounds know exactly when to use their abilities because they essentially have foresight.
Bloodhound is a legend that needs to get up close and personal with enemy teams. Players should not grab a sniper and sit back behind cover, as the character’s abilities do not help players at longer ranges. In public matches especially, Bloodhounds should have a shotgun paired with a medium-range gun at all times. Gamers can choose between the Hemlock, R99, or R301 for their medium-range weapon. Ideally, Apex players will be able to pick up a Mastiff as well for gunfights within 15 meters. However, the Wingman and EVA-8 can be nearly as effective up close. While there really is never an unusable weapon for a character in Apex, players will get the best out of Bloodhound with a short and medium-range combo.
