With Nintendo getting ready to celebrate its annual Mar10 day – an event dedicated to commemorating the Super Mario franchise – it seems fans are currently enjoying a slate of promotions themed around the mustached mascot. The Nintendo Eshop is currently selling a selection of notable Mario titles for a reduced price in accordance with the anniversary, including recent releases such as Luigi’s Mansion 3, Super Mario Party, and Mario Tennis Aces.
However, it seems Nintendo’s range of Super Mario surprises aren’t only slated for March, with the company announcing yesterday that it’s teaming with Jakks Pacific to release new action figures this fall. The biggest addition to the toy manufacturer’s lineup of Mario merchandise is a replica of Bowser’s infamous airship, which will set fans back $39.99.
The toy looks to be a pretty complex recreation of the Koopa king’s flying ship, coming complete with spinning propellers, rocking motion wheels, and an openable deck that can be used to store other figures. The entire model is also scaled so it can easily fit Jakks’ prior Mario toys, making it compatible with other action figures purchased from the manufacturer. Regardless, the pack will still come complete with a Mario figure, meaning buyers don’t have to worry about investing in a version of the mascot to stand atop the Fortress. The design of the airship feels yanked directly from the plumber’s previous on-screen adventures, and will likely make a great addition to any fan’s collection.
The second product announced is a pack of three action figures, with players able to get their hands on Mario, Luigi, and Peach in their cat-suits. The set feels pretty fitting considering Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury recently hit Switch, offering a remastered take on the first appearance of the cat-focused power-up. Each of the figures boasts articulation and will stand at 4-inches, with the three-pack retailing for $29.99.
In other Mario news, March marks the last month that the expansive range of Super Mario 35th anniversary products remain on shelves. As of March 31, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Super Mario Bros. 35, and Game and Watch: Super Mario Bros. will all be removed from sale, with Nintendo encouraging fans to get their hands on them quickly. While that means there’s still time to grab both Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Game and Watch: Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros. 35 will unfortunately no longer be playable, with the title only remaining online until the end of the anniversary event.
