Legend of Zelda Fan Recreates Temple of Time With LEGOs

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the highly beloved Legend of Zelda franchise. Though Nintendo has yet to acknowledge this achievement for currently unknown reasons, fans themselves are celebrating their favorite series in their own ways, with one fan creating an impressive tribute to the series out of LEGO.

Zelda fan and master builder Matthias Bartsch has built a LEGO-fied model of the Temple of Time from the critically acclaimed fan-favorite, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. This model faithfully adapts both the inside and the outside of the iconic in-game location, including a secluded chamber that contains the Master Sword itself.

The model gained traction when Bartsch posted pictures of his creation on Reddit, under the username u/Groobar, where it received 8.2k upvotes and praise from other fans. This Austrian designer has also created models of Clock Tower from Majora’s Mask and the Tower of the Gods from Wind Waker, but this Temple of Time recreation is his most impressive feat yet. One can see from the image below that it adapts the building almost 1:1, just on a smaller scale, the perfect size for one to display on a desk or shelf.

Fans have created LEGO versions of Legend of Zelda locations for a while now, and they never stop being impressive. Many fans have even campaigned for sets to be approved in the LEGO Ideas program, where fans can suggest ideas for sets that can possibly become reality. This has worked for other successful intellectual properties such as Sesame Street and Friends, but it has unfortunately yet to happen with Zelda. The demand is clearly there, as Breath of the Wild is one of the most successful games on Switch, but this success has yet to translate into a LEGO cross-promotion.

With the success of the LEGO Super Mario sets from last year, one can hope that Nintendo pushes for the Legend of Zelda to also gets the brick treatment sometime soon. While the Mario sets went for a more interactive, play-focused angle, Zelda would likely fit better with larger, fancier builds such as this. A LEGO Temple of Time could theoretically only be the start, as Hyrule Castle, Death Mountain, Zora’s Domain, or a shrine from Breath of the Wild would also be excellent sets. Hopefully, LEGO and Nintendo are aware of this demand and finally give us some Legend of Zelda-focused sets sometime soon.
