Marvel’s Avengers fans that have been waiting for new content are in luck, as Hawkeye will be playable in-game very soon. To celebrate, Crystal Dynamics has shown off some of the archer’s alternate costumes for Marvel’s Avengers, with fans getting to see brief snippets of footage that show the designs in action.
Players already know what to expect from Hawkeye’s upcoming DLC, including several alternate costumes. Thus far, Clint’s default suit has been shown as well as another look that sees the hero rocking a purple T-shirt. Inspired by recent comics, the skin should prove popular, as should the Old Man Hawkeye costume that was showcased as well. However, deep dives into three of the other optional cosmetics have been shared as well, and two should look familiar to avid comic readers.
Perhaps the most exciting skin for Hawkeye is the Ronin costume. An integral part of his comic book history, Clint took on this alter ego in a darker part of his life. Donning an intricate mask and the look of a ninja, while also wielding a katana, the Avengers member took down the Yakuza and other gangs. Debuting in the MCU during Avengers: Endgame and set to be explored further via the Hawkeye Disney+ series, fans of the live action Hawkeye will notice the look as well.
While Clint’s Ronin skin will undoubtedly be a fan favorite amongst players, and is a good fit do to Hawkeye’s use of a sword during melee attacks, two other skins have been shown off as well. His Ultimate skin shows off his costume from the Ultimate comics, with Crystal Dynamics highlighting how this universe established his close bond with Black Widow prior to the MCU. Wearing a purple mask that goes up to his nose as well as a pair of maroon glasses, this take on Clint looks different from what has been shown thus far.
The final skin highlighted by Crystal Dynamics is fully original and will see Clint Barton getting a costume similar to the final suits from Marvel’s Avengers’ story mode. Much like those suits, it seems like this one was designed by Tony Stark as well, with the name “Iron Eye” assigned to the outfit. A futuristic look that sees Hawkeye wearing purple goggles as well as a Captain America-like helmet and some bulky armor, it will be interesting to see how fans respond to this costume.
Players can unlock these skins and other Hawkeye outfits on March 18, with some likely in his hero card and others in the marketplace. Releasing alongside the next-gen versions of Marvel Avengers as well as customizable HARM rooms and story replay, the game’s next update will be its biggest yet.
Marvel’s Avengers is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions coming March 18.
