New Eternals Artwork Shows Off Deviant Villain Kro | Game Rant

WandaVision has just come to a close and the next MCU project on the horizon is The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, yet another TV series coming exclusively to the Disney Plus service. With all the hype around the various shows and projects coming to Disney’s streaming platform, one might almost forget that Phase 4 was once supposed to kick off with the release of Black Widow, the first film in the MCU since Spider-Man: Far From Home. As folks return to some semblance of normalcy, however, audiences can begin to look forward to future Marvel films again, including one of the company’s more intriguing projects: The Eternals.

The Eternals is an interesting choice for the film adaptation, as it’s right up there with Guardians of the Galaxy in terms of properties that nobody really knows. It’s easy to forget, but there was a time when the Eternals were rather obscure figures, known to very few people outside of Marvel fandom, and even they were never super popular.

That seems to be changing, however: much like Guardians of the Galaxy, a fully-fledged Marvel film seems on the verge of recreating the characters for mainstream audiences and thrusting them into stardom. Those curious about getting better look at the heroes of the future will happy to know some more promo art has been uncovered featuring the Celestials who create the Eternals, and one of their villains.

As far as basic plot goes: in the comics the Eternals were sent to Earth 35,000 years ago in order to serve as protectors from ‘The Deviants.’ Their ties to the broad mythological origins of the Marvel Universe make them perfect for big status quo changes and shake-ups. In The Eternals, all we know for sure is that something after Endgame happens that brings out the Deviants, and forces the Eternals to reunite and fight back.

As far as villains go, it is more or less confirmed that Kro, the immortal shapeshifter Deviant, will be appearing in the film, thanks to various leaks. Fittingly for an obscure property like this, there are still lots of unknowns about the film’s story, and what it might mean for the MCU at large. Hopefully, this small smattering of artwork helps whet the appetite for those eager to get back to the feature film side of the MCU.

Eternals will release in theaters on November 5th, 2021.
