Next week marks the debut of Pokemon GO‘s first Electric-type Charge-Up event, which will encourage trainers to focus on catching, evolving, and buffing up Electric-type Pokemon. Pokemon GO content comes in a steady stream of different events, and it has been that way since the game launched back in 2016. Type-themed events have occurred before with Pokemon GO‘s Bug Out event and the Psychic Spectacular Event, but this event will offer unique Field Research tasks and Timed Research events for Electric-type Pokemon and add Tynamo to the game.
The Charge-Up event will be a close follow-up to another early March event, Searching for Legends, which ended yesterday and gave players the chance to catch extra Ground, Rock, and Steel-type Pokemon as well as find a shiny Nosepass. Running in tangent with the Charge-up event will be the Kanto Bonus Tour event, which lasts all through March and offers players some rewards for completing event-exclusive Timed Research.
Pokemon GO‘s Charge-Up event will begin on March 16 at 10:00 a.m. and will last until March 22 at 8:00 p.m. local time. There’s a ton of different featured content for the event, all centered around Electric-type Pokemon. Electric-types like Alolan Geodude, Voltorb, and Electrike will be appearing more frequently in the wild and players will have a chance to catch the EleFish Pokemon Tynamo, a newcomer to Pokemon GO.
For the event, 5 km eggs will hatch some specific Electric-type Pokemon including Pichu, Elekid, Electrike, Shinx, Joltik, Tynamo, and Stunfisk. Event-exclusive Field Research task incentives include Poke Balls, Mega Energy for Manectric and Ampharos, and specific encounters with Electric-type Pokemon. Timed Research with a focus on evolving and powering up Electric-type Pokemon will also be featured as part of the event.
Raids in Pokemon GO for March will also be affected by the Charge-Up event. Different Electric-type Pokemon will show up in raids based on the raid rank.
- Voltorb, Shinx, Blitzle, Klink, and Tynamo will be appearing in one-star raids
- Alolan Raichu, Alolan Graveler, Magneton, and Ampharos will be appearing in three-star raids
- Therian Forme Thundurus will be appearing for the first time in five-star raids
- Mega Manectric will debut in Pokemon GO Mega Raids during this event, and Mega Raids will also feature Mega Houndoom and Mega Abomasnow
As an extra bonus for the Charge-Up event, all players will also have a higher chance of receiving Evolution items when opening Gifts in Pokemon GO. This event only lasts for a week, so trainers with a particular affinity for Electric-type Pokemon should take advantage of all the new incentives while they last.
Pokemon GO is available on Android and iOS.
