The Sims 4 Player Recreates Dragon Age: Inquisition’s Skyhold In-Game

It’s been a while since anything Dragon Age-related has released, but the fandom surrounding the franchise is still going strong. There’s a number of ways devotees have shown appreciation for the BioWare RPG series, from writing fanfiction to tattooing frenemy Solas on their arm. It’s often creative how fans have expressed their admiration, such as one who recreated Skyhold within Sims 4 with remarkable detail.

For those unfamiliar, Skyhold was the headquarters of the Inquisition, the group that was the center of Dragon Age: Inquisition. Reddit user u/StarshinePrince posted their work to the online forum, sharing a gallery that featured portions of their creation. According to the user, within their recreation of Skyhold is a bedroom for every companion, with the exception of Cole and Blackwall. They used a variety of Sims 4 expansions to get the job done. Players who enjoy the build can download it and add it to their own game through the link provided in the comments.

Fans of the series are still anxiously waiting for Dragon Age 4, but its development is ongoing and a release date hasn’t been announced. A Dragon Age 4 teaser trailer was shared at the beginning of the year to satisfy their craving for information on the sequel. The cinematic style of the trailer didn’t reveal too much about gameplay, but did hint at the location of the next chapter as Tevinter. Additionally, the trailer confirmed the return of Solas, who will play a very different role than he did in Inquisition.

When development began on the sequel, there were some worries about the direction publisher EA would take it. Following the cancellation of BioWare’s Anthem reboot, it was reported that the game has dropped live service and multiplayer plans. This will come as a relief to many who enjoy a more streamlined, single-player experience. It should also keep development from splitting focus, allowing them to focus on the core game, but some may lament the missed opportunity to see what an online component might have done for the franchise.

An earlier sequel, Dragon Age 2, remains a controversial entry in the series. Some players loved it, while others did not. While it served an important narrative function for the overall story, introducing likable returning characters and setting up the villain for Inquisition, the game itself was more contained. It wasn’t the thrilling, sprawling epic other Dragon Age titles have a history of being. On March 8, Dragon Age 2 celebrated its 10th anniversary, and devs took the time to reflect on the title, offering insight into its development including the original proposed name for the sequel and excluded plotlines.

The Sims 4 is available now for PC, PS4, and the Xbox One.
