St. Patrick’s Day may not be happening until next Wednesday, but Animal Crossing: New Horizons is kicking off the holiday festivities a little bit early. Called Shamrock Day in-universe, Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans will be able to acquire several limited time items to wear or place around their islands.
While the Mario crossover items may not be timed, the Shamrock Day content is, so players interested in acquiring all the items will want to start gathering Bells sooner rather than later. From now until the actual St. Patrick’s Day on March 17, fans will be able to collect the items. Unsurprisingly, the color green and clover designs are incredibly common, with each item that is part of the event sticking to the theme clearly.
As with other Animal Crossing: New Horizons event items, the first three goodies are found in Nook Shopping. A Shamrock Doorplate can be purchased for 1,200 Bells, and it has the Irish word for “welcome” engraved on the front. Shamrock Soda costs 1,000 Bells and works like the New Year’s Cider, with players able to do an adorable toast animation when using the item. The final Nook Shopping item is the Shamrock rug, which costs 1,500 Bells and allows players to cover a floor in their house with a colorful, clover-shaped item. Only one item will appear each day, so players will need to log-in three days in a row to get everything.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans can also find a series of items in the Able Sisters’ shop, with the seamstresses offering some special clothes for players to wear. A bright green Shamrock Suit can be purchased for 3,000 Bells, while a Shamrock Hat can be bought for 1,320 Bells. Shamrock Sunglasses can be bought for 1,100 Bells, with some clover shapes used to make the fun pair of shades stand out. Finally, green and gold Shamrock Shoes complete the outfit, costing players 1,680 Bells.
The final item in the Shamrock Day event will see Animal Crossing: New Horizons players breaking balloons in hopes to obtain a recipe. With the recipe dropping at random, players will likely need to break quite a few balloons with or without a slingshot. Eventually, though, the Shamrock Wand should drop, and it can easily be made with 3 basic star fragments and 3 clumps of weeds. Showing a stylish can with a sparkly green clover attached to its center, the wand matches the Shamrock Day outfit perfectly.
With a special Mario mission available inside Animal Crossing: New Horizons as well, players have a good reason to explore their islands over the next few days. With the return of Bunny Day coming up soon, there will only be a few weeks of downtime once the Shamrock Day items leave the game.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on Nintendo Switch.
