When Capcom released Monster Hunter World back in 2017, the game went on to become a huge success, and fans of the franchise were ecstatic with its vast locations and massive monsters to battle against. Unfortunately, Monster Hunter fans on the Switch missed out on all the fun, given that Capcom never released the game to the hybrid console. Luckily for fans, Capcom is on the verge of releasing Monster Hunter Rise, which is expected to bring the franchise to new heights.
Last September, Capcom announced Monster Hunter Rise, the upcoming sixth installment in the Monster Hunter series. According to Capcom, Monster Hunter Rise will follow many of the standards set by Monster Hunter World while introducing new features to keep the experience fresh for veteran players. Here is a roundup of everything players should know about Monster Hunter Rise, such as what the game is about, its release date and platforms, and much more.
Monster Hunter Rise was announced during Nintendo’s Direct presentation back in September 2020. For the time being, the game will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. However, series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto confirmed that Monster Hunter Rise would be making its way to the PC in early 2022. Unfortunately, there is still no word whether Monster Hunter Rise will be released to the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, or their last-gen counterparts. Monster Hunter Rise will be released to the Switch on March 26, 2021.
Similar to previous Monster Hunter games, Monster Hunter Rise puts players in the role of a Hunter tasked to slay and trap large monsters via the use of various tools and weapons. Every successful quest would reward players with rare loot, which includes parts of a monster that players can use to craft weapons and armor to tackle more powerful foes. Monster Hunter Rise also uses the same seamless map first introduced in Monster Hunter World that focuses on vertical movement.
One of the new features that Monster Hunter Rise will introduce is the Wirebug, a lasso-like insect that can be used as a grappling hook, allowing them to latch on monsters for a better vantage point. According to Capcom, players will be given two Wirebugs at their disposal, which can then be used alongside other weapons in the game. Another new feature in Monster Hunter Rise is the Palamute, a new type of companion. Like the Palico, the Palamute will join players on quests and help players in battling monsters. However, one of the biggest differences between the Palico and the Palamute is that the latter specializes in the offense, making it a useful companion when dealing with powerful monsters.
Another important feature that players should look forward to in Monster Hunter Rise is multiplayer. Like previous Monster Hunter games, Monster Hunter Rise will allow up to four players to band together either locally or online. Currently, Monster Hunter Rise’s multiplayer component’s exact details are still limited, but it will likely share many of the basic mechanics of Monster Hunter World. Of course, given that Monster Hunter Rise will be released to the Switch, players would need an active subscription to Nintendo Switch Online to gain access to multiplayer.
Monster Hunter Rise’s biggest element that most players are probably wondering about is its roster of monsters. Like previous Monster Hunter games, Monster Hunter Rise features an assortment of monsters, both new and old. Capcom hasn’t released the full list of monsters that players will encounter in the upcoming game, but here are all the monsters confirmed so far. It is worth noting that Capcom may include new monsters once the game is released.
