ARMS Dark Horse Comic Has Been Canceled | Game Rant

Way back in 2018, Dark Horse Comics revealed that a comic based on the ARMS franchise was in the works. Fast forward to yesterday when Reddit user, Dr-Richie-74, relayed his finding that Ian Flynn, the writer, listed it as canceled on his official website.

The ARMS comic was based loosely on the game of the same name that released in 2017. Following the initial release, the game’s fanbase grew and a character from ARMS eventually joined Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The comic project was teased during Free Comic Day 2018 in a joint issue with The Legend of Korra. In this issue, fans were given a brief look into the universe where 20% of all people develop long springy limbs.

The Free Comic Day 2018 ARMS issue centered around Spring Man, a moniker bestowed upon the best fighter from the Spring Gym. The narrative followed the frontrunner of the total 600 applications vying to become the next Spring Man. The comic ends with Spring Man entering a tournament of sorts where he calls out a formidable opponent named Max Brass. This was the storyline that was going to be explored in ARMS Volume 1: Contenders until the project was scrapped.

Fans were understandably surprised by the cancelation considering that the franchise had just begun to pick up steam again. Just last week, disgruntled Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players took to Twitter to protest a nerf given to Min Min, an ARMS character. Despite the game’s relative obscurity, the characters have remained popular among Nintendo fans. But, until further details are released, fans will have to speculate as to exactly why the project was canceled.

ARMS is available now on the Nintendo Switch.
