Call of Duty: Warzone – King Slayer Guide | Game Rant

Call of Duty: Warzone playlist updates are always interesting, as they can be anything from small updates to huge changes to the rotation. The latest Call of Duty: Warzone playlist update falls into the latter category, as the King Slayer game mode has made a return.

While some players may be disappointed to see the new Exfiltration game mode leave the rotation, just as many will likely be happy to see King Slayer make a comeback. Arriving in August of last year before reappearing in November and being plagued with bugs in December, hopefully this latest appearance runs smoothly. If it does, Call of Duty: Warzone fans should have a blast with the mode, with players that like action and gunfights likely to find it extra appealing.

The first thing that players will notice about King Slayer is that the player count is limited to 50. While this smaller number would be fitting of Rebirth Island, players will still be playing this mode on Verdansk, and a small moving circle helps keep the action tight and focused. The mode features the use of pre-made classes as well, so players will not need to worry about looting guns or securing a loadout drop. As soon as they land in the map, they are ready for action.

Ultimately, the goal of King Slayer is for a squad to rack up a staggering total of 100 kills. Squads will be divided into groups of three, and the teams that place in the top five in terms of kill count will be marked on the map with a kill count and circle. Much like contracts in regular Call of Duty: Warzone or top earners in Plunder, players will be able to go to these players for a guaranteed fight. With the Gulag system not included and instant respawns in place instead, players can feel free to get into any shootouts they want.

Winning in Call of Duty: Warzone requires different strategies for each mode and securing victory within King Slayer is no different. There are two equally valid approaches players can take, however, and the first is obvious. One way to win King Slayer is to be as aggressive as possible. With no punishments for dying and no Gulag respawns to worry about, players can feel free to push every marked enemy they see. If a trio is confident in its skills, hunting down other groups of players to reach the 100 count quickly is a solid approach.

The other approach is a bit safer and sees Call of Duty: Warzone players camping in power positions. While this is usually frowned upon by fans of the battle royale game, it fits with the nature of the mode. As such, once players get enough kills to enter the top 5 and be marked on the map, they should head to a rooftop, military base hangar, or airport’s watchtower. With a good place to holdout, a top 5 group can wait for enemy players to come to them, racking up kill after kill without moving at all.

With Verdansk supposedly being nuked soon, enjoying the explosive action of King Slayer while it is still available would be a wise idea.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
