Equipment is extremely important in Loop Hero, as it increases a player’s power level by improving a number of stats. While many of the stats that are altered by gear are quite easy to understand, that is not the case with absolutely all of them. For instance, Magic Damage is a stat in Loop Hero that some fans may have questions about, and this guide looks to alleviate any confusion that surrounds it.
To put things simply, Magic Damage is a flat damage increase that is not affected by an enemy’s Defense stat. To provide an example, a weapon with 5 – 10 Damage and +5 Magic Damage would actually deal 10 – 15 Damage, with five of it entirely surpassing armor. This means that Magic Damage is particularly useful for taking down monsters with high Defense stats, such as the Skeletons that come from Cemeteries in Loop Hero, and it can prove to be quite powerful in certain instances.
Additionally, it is indicated that the damage dealt by Magic Damage does receive the benefits of the critical hit multiplier and also impacts how much health is earned from Vampirism in Loop Hero. While more testing is needed in order to confirm that this entirely accurate, it does seem that players can expect Magic Damage to function almost exactly like standard Damage, aside from how it interacts with Defense. As such, fans should feel fairly comfortable sacrificing some Damage if it allows them to gain additional Magic Damage.
When it comes to comparing Magic Damage to the other stats in the game, though, things become slightly more complicated. To speak very generally, while the stat may provide some amount of assistance in the early stages of a run, it is unlikely to do great deal as a player progresses. As such, Loop Hero fans will typically be better served by focusing on increasing less situational stats that retain their efficacy for longer rather than trying to maximize their Magic Damage.
One final thing to note about this stat in Loop Hero is that it apparently does not bypass an Iron Golem’s passive ability. This fact is unlikely to have a great deal of impact on how a player thinks about Magic Damage, but it is worth mentioning none the less. Indeed, fans should now have all of the information that they need to make an informed assessment of the stat, which should improve their ability to select the best gear for their Hero.
