PUBG Confirms 4th Anniversary Event Schedule | Game Rant

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is a battle royale title that helped to popularize the genre which can now seemingly be found everywhere thanks to games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty: Warzone. As a result, some may be surprised to find out PUBG is only now starting to approach its fourth anniversary, with the developer planning a number of events to celebrate.

The theme for the game’s fourth anniversary is “SQU4D UP,” according to an announcement post on PUBG‘s website Tuesday, based on the idea that it takes four players to make a complete squad. Its anniversary date is officially March 23, but events are being held throughout the month for fans to take part in.

The first major event, which began today and runs until March 31 at 11:59 p.m. UTC, is the “Hashtag G-Coin Giveaway.” Players can find one of the prior Graffiti Contest winning entries in-game, take a photo with it, and upload that to social media with the hashtag “#PUUBG4thAnniversary” and other region-specific additions to potentially win 1,000 G-Coins.

PUBG will also give away unique character and M416 skins to players who complete one of a number of missions between March 18 and 24, such as playing the game for four hours or accumulating four kills. After that, between March 25 and 31, completing the same set of missions can net players a victory dance emote – though players should avoid a recently discovered teleport glitch in PUBG in the process.

Tuesday’s announcement post details more in-game anniversary items will be made available via PUBG Partner giveaways, and there are a number of celebration videos being released to celebrate the community at large and PUBG esports. One video releasing March 27 will reflect on the game’s four-year history, though developers have asked PUBG fans what features they want to see as the game continues to evolve going forward.

PUBG Mobile is also celebrating its third anniversary this month with a packed Version 1.3 update. The main draw of the festivities in this mobile edition of the game is a new Hundred Rhythms mode on the Erangel map, which offers players one of three unique items to utilize as they battle around a DJ stage playing electronic music remixes of PUBG tracks.

While PUBG celebrates two anniversaries this month, the future of the franchise also became more clear thanks to a couple of announcements in February. Most notably, PUBG: New State is coming to mobile devices as a futuristic evolution of the main game, and it will be a separate title than the upcoming PUBG 2.

PUBG is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
