Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness Brinks Back Leon, Claire VAs from Remake

Netflix revealed that the two actors who voiced Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy in the 2019 Resident Evil 2 Remake will reprise their roles in the upcoming CG-animated series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness.

Netflix has kept details about Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness under wraps since the series was revealed last September. That was until today, when Netflix announced the show’s cast, teaser art, and a three-paragraph synopsis. Netflix also revealed that the show is officially canon and takes place in 2006, a few years after the events of Resident Evil 4.

Netflix is bringing back Nick Apostolides and Stephanie Panisello to reprise their roles as Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. New promotional artwork depicting the two characters was shown as part of the announcement. The art style suggests that the show creators intend to stick to Resident Evil’s horror roots in the upcoming series. In addition to confirming how the show fits into the Resident Evil timeline, the detailed synopsis also revealed key details about its setting.

According to the synopsis, the series begins with Leon Kennedy investigating a security breach of you secret information at the White House, an important location in the Resident Evil franchise. Meanwhile, Claire Redfield encounters a disturbing drawing created by a child in a foreign country she visited. Expectedly, the two characters eventually cross paths just in time to fight off a zombie horde at the White House.

Some fans expect that Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will set up for Netflix’s live-action Resident Evil adaption. Not much is known about the adaption, besides that fact that it is a brand new story that will take place across two time periods and follow Albert Wesker’s twin daughters. Netflix also has a separate Resident Evil origin movie project in the works.

Resident Evil fans have a lot to look forward to this year, as Resident Evil Village is set to release in May. It was recently revealed that the game will take up 50.02 GB on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X versions of the game, meaning that it will be a similar size on PC and PlayStation consoles. Many questions still remain unanswered questions about Resident Evil Village, despite the fact that it releases in a few months. It is known that the game will include four “houses” that the player will have to navigate, though these houses remain shrouded in mystery, and fans are still debating what role Chris Redfield will play.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will release on Netflix in 2021.
