The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of those gifts that keeps on giving. Just a week ago, the game celebrated its four-year anniversary since its release, yet loyal fans continue to venture back in to learn more secrets about Breath of the Wild. Now, with a recent discovery, players can walk underwater and ignore damage altogether.
Introducing YouTuber Gaming Reinvented. They had already discovered a myriad of different glitches in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but a few days ago they discovered two more that were even more heinous than the previous ones. The “Collision Overload” glitch as it’s being dubbed, is relatively simple but rather laborious to trigger. Once it has been activated, however, Link is, for all intents and purposes, invincible.
In order to overload the game, Gaming Reinvented suggests “aiming shock arrows with multishot bows, dropping them, switching to another bow, and repeating the process.” Then, players should proceed to desync their weapons. This is done by equipping weapons in Breath of the Wild while the game is overloaded. If done correctly, Link’s equipped weapon will be different from the one that the game displays as equipped. Proceed to throw hundreds of these cloned weapons into a body of water, and the water’s behavior will start to change.
Once the weapons begin to simply drop through the water, the glitch is complete. Link will now also simply be able to drop through the water and walk around unfettered. He will no longer be affected by freezing water either. In fact, Link won’t be affected by damage at all. Go find an ever-dangerous Lynel in Breath of the Wild and stand in front of it. Players may reactively flinch while it brings down its weapon, but fear not, Link is totally invincible. Sadly, players will no longer be able to damage enemies either.
Another thing to try while the game is in this unstable state is the boomerang. If players throw the boomerang underwater, the game will completely break. The animations will become clunky and stutter. Link’s model will bend in all sorts of unusual ways. While this glitch may seem pointless, it shows players a different behind-the-scenes sort of look. Plus, running around taking absolutely no damage in Breath of the Wild can be fairly exciting.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available now for Nintendo Switch and Wii U.
