After Infinity Ward introduced fans to the wildly popular and free to play battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone, Raven Software has taken ownership of the mode throughout the rest of Modern Warfare’s lifespan and through the current title, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The mode has experienced plenty of changes over the past year with the original map Verdansk getting a number of new updates with zones that have changed in some way like Stadium, as well as brand new areas to explore.
This past December, Raven also resurrected the original Alcatraz location from the Call of Duty: Back Ops 4 Blackout mode. Rebranded as Rebirth Island, this alternative and smaller map pit fewer teams against one another with a more chaotic Warzone experience. While fans took to the new map quite quickly, numerous issues began surfacing including one notorious exploit that gave certain players a major unfair advantage.
Call of Duty: Warzone players quickly began reporting that some players were reportedly dying without actually seeing any enemies. While initially looking like an invisible opponent whittling away the player’s health bar, the kill cam quickly reveals that some were taking advantage of an exploit to clipping through the map. Now seemingly under the map, players could then see everything going on above them and able to kill other players as well as loot chests above them without fear of being shot at. Naturally, this issue has been frustrating for those attempting to play legitimately as there’s no counter to this.
Thankfully, Raven Software has provided an update on the game-breaking exploit. In a new Twitter post, the studio reveals that not only is it well aware of the issue, but it is working on a fix to eliminate the map clipping problem. The studio added a link to its Trello board, the location where players can go to see what fixes the company is looking into. For this Call of Duty: Warzone exploit, the issue is marked as Investigating, which means a resolution hasn’t been found but the developers are looking into it.
While this exploit is a big deal, it isn’t the only game breaking issue to have arrived within Rebirth Island. Other game-breaking issues have popped up over time including one issue that gave players unlimited revives, essentially going against the main point of the mode. Similarly to the map clipping issues, players also came across an invincibility glitch near the Chemical Engineering location on the map. Players found a way to glitch into a nearby wall, letting them shoot at unsuspecting players who wander too close.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
