Overwatch Pro Suggests Major D.Va Buffs | Game Rant

Overwatch is a constant balance game for Blizzard, with the company buffing, nerfing, and sometimes completely reworking heroes in the name of trying to make the game as fair and competitive as possible. Sometimes Blizzard tests its more extreme ideas for character changes in the Overwatch Experimental Card, and it’s possible that D.Va will soon be getting some interesting changes for fans to test out.

Professional Overwatch player Poko was recently asked what kind of D.Va changes he would want to see tested out in the Overwatch Experimental Card. All of the changes recommended by Poko would make D.Va a much more powerful character, making her an even more obvious pick for those who playing the Tank class. Poko’s recommendations include making it so D.Va’s Defense Matrix would be able to consume all projectiles in the game, including Sigma’s Ultimate.

Another change recommended by Poko would increase the recharge rate for D.Va’s Ultimate by up to 30 percent. This would in turn allow D.Va to drop her bombs more frequently in any given match, which would be a massive buff for the character. Needless to say, it’s highly unlikely that particular change will ever make it to the actual Overwatch game.

And finally, Poko’s final suggestion for the Overwatch Experimental Card would see D.Va become temporarily invincible when calling in her mech. As it currently stands, D.Va can be killed by enemy players while she’s trying to get back into her mech suit. D.Va is immobile during this animation, so she can’t really defend herself. However, one could argue that going after “baby D.Va” while she’s getting back in her mech is part of countering her and making her invincible during this time would be way too overpowered.

Blizzard has made some dramatic changes to D.Va in Overwatch over the years. Blizzard has made many changes to D.Va’s Defense Matrix ability, and it has also given her a new attack in the form of Micro Missiles. There also once was a point when D.Va could be killed by her own bomb, though Blizzard wound up changing that so D.Va is immune to the explosion. These changes have gone a long way in changing how people play D.Va, so Blizzard has shown a clear willingness to change the character.

It’s unclear if any of these dramatic D.Va buffs will actually stick, but a different Tank hero could be getting some big changes in the game. Blizzard has teased that a major Reinhardt rework could be in the cards that would make him more viable as an aggressive Tank hero, giving him two Fire Strikes to work with and allowing him to stop himself mid-charge. Whether or not those changes are ever implemented remains to be seen as well, but Overwatch fans should stay tuned for more information.

Overwatch is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
