Every Gnome in The Sims 4 (And What Appeases Them) | Game Rant

The Sims franchise has had DLC centered around the seasons changing since The Sims 2. The Sims 4 is no exception, with the full Seasons expansion pack having been released in 2018. Coincidentally, all weather-themed expansions have had the same name in The Sims 2, The Sims 3, and The Sims 4 — “Seasons.” With The Sims 4: Seasons, however, players were introduced to a new holiday system and a new importance of gnomes. While gnomes have shown up in low-level photography pictures in-game, they got an even more prominent role in Seasons.

Different styles of gnome will appear for each “major” holiday, and some Sims love the tradition of appeasing them. To appease a gnome means offering them a gift from a menu of items and hoping the right one is selected. If players make the correct choice, a halo will appear above the gnome’s head and Sims will be gifted seed packets. If not, a fire will appear above the gnome’s head to signify their anger and the Sim will be struck by lightning. It’s not deadly, but it makes appeasing the gnome that much harder on that holiday.

The Sims 4: Seasons randomly spawns gnomes on major holidays and one of the optional criteria for a successful holiday includes appeasing them. Players can offer gnomes any of the following items:

  • Coffee
  • Pie
  • Salad
  • Toy
  • Fruitcake
  • Future Cube

Some gnomes will respond to multiple items on the list, but others only have one item that will appease them. So far, there are 12 different gnomes that have the chance of spawning on a holiday. Appeasing the gnomes isn’t mandatory for a successful holiday, but it helps Sims in the long run.

In addition to being adorable lawn ornaments, some of the gnomes of The Sims 4 have hilarious Build/ Buy names as well. The “Happy Gnomiversary!” holds a party horn and cake and is a perfect whimsical addition to any lot. To appease this gnome, players need to give them coffee. If not, they’ll face the wrath of an angry gnome breaking items around the lot.

This gnome is cute enough to fit in with any yard, but may feel more at home in a Kansas style build or something modeled after The Wizard of Oz. “There’s No Place Like Gnome” can also be appeased with coffee to ensure an angelic halo appears over their cap.

Despite the hilarious name, this gnome can also be appeased with coffee. Its outstretched arms are a great addition to any garden or lawn decoration.

This gnome looks as if he’s lifting up his beard to show everyone his full smile. He’s certainly cheery and happy, and will be sure to provide garden seeds if appeased properly with coffee.

One of the more formally attired gnomes, the “Strictly Business Gnome” carries a briefcase and dons a tiny suit. This statue is more niche than some others available, but as long as he’s appeased with coffee he’s an excellent addition to any Sim home.

The “Bearly Gnome” looks as if he’s wearing one of the bear costumes available to Sims in-game. To match his fun appearance, this gnome must be appeased with pie. Otherwise, Sims will face the consequences for depriving a gnome of his pie.

This gnome is stylized after the grim reaper, even carrying a tiny scythe. He would fit in a dying garden, or maybe one dedicated to plasma fruit. “Don’t Fear the Reagnomper” must be appeased with pie, lest he comes for the player’s Sim next with his tiny scythe.

The perfect addition to a Sim’s pool landscaping, this gnome has adorable braids and a floaty. She also seems to be wearing a striped one-piece swimsuit for all her swimming needs. The “Poolside Gnome” must also be appeased with pie.

Typically found on holidays with the “Egg Hunt” and “Flower Bunny” traditions, “Mr. Floppy the Gnome” will appear donned in his best bunny suit. From some angles, he even looks like The Sims 2‘s Social Bunny. This gnome is the only one who can be appeased with salad.

Looking just like a naked, pixelated Sim, the “Bare Essentials Gnome” is a hilarious, if not scandalous, addition to any Sim’s lawn. This gnome is appeased by being given a toy.

Much like “Don’t Fear the Reagnomper,” “The Ghastly Ghostly Gnome” would fit in with a dying garden, a plasma fruit garden, or even a cemetery. This gnome is one of the few who enjoys being appeased with fruitcake.

Clearly a reference to the Guardians of the Galaxy, this intergalactic looking gnome would fit right in with planted UFOs (Unidentified Fruit Objects) and Intergalactic Growth Pods. Unsurprisingly, this gnome will best be appeased with a Future Cube.

The Sims 4: Seasons is full of fantastic gameplay options and holidays. Appeasing the gnomes isn’t required, but makes the Sim’s life a lot easier and can earn them a lot of great holiday rewards.

The Sims 4: Seasons is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
