When Riot Games announced an auto-battler spin-off of its iconic MOBA League of Legends, few might have predicted that Teamfight Tactics would still be going strong almost two years in. In a recent developer video, the first details were revealed for Teamfight Tactics‘ next set, Reckoning.
Each new set in Teamfight Tactics introduces new gameplay mechanics, content, and League of Legends champions to the roster. Sets also typically add new Origins to the mix, which are traits that give special bonuses. The current main set is called Fates, which is also what will be used at the Teamfight Tactics “Fates” Championship next month.
TFT‘s next set, Reckoning, is described as the “ultimate struggle between good and evil, chaos and order, and light and dark.” In that vein, the game will see champion skins like God-King Garen and Darius, and will see the return of League of Legend‘s Glorious Executioner Draven, in his Ruined garb. Players will also be able to use Little Devil Teemo units with a unique twist. Instead of costing gold, Little Devil Teemo will use a player’s health to rank up.
The new Draconic Origin trait was also revealed, which will place dragon eggs on a player’s bench that will hatch into new units. Plus, in a move that seems similar to Overwatch‘s Experimental Mode, Riot announced its own mode for experimenting called TFT Labs. The first experiment mode will be Hyper Roll, which changes a bunch of game rules to make matches faster.
Since millions of players return to the game any time a new set is launched, fans should look forward to a reinvigorated playerbase alongside the new changes. In any case, fans of the League of Legends universe have a full spring ahead of them, as League of Legends: Wild Rift open betas are about to begin in North America, and news of the Arcana animated series could come any day. Reckoning is expected to launch on April 28 with Patch 11.9.
