Apex Legends season 9 is a few weeks away, and while what it entails remains to be seen, Respawn Entertainment has teased big things. Regardless, fans know to expect a new Battle Pass and a new character. In fact, it seems many are curious if Mad Maggie, the character introduced in Fuse’s background, will join the Apex Games.
In short, it seems unlikely. There’s not exactly a booming cast of characters in the greater mythos, but it’s much more likely that Mad Maggie joins the likes of Ash, Blisk, Bangalore’s brother, and Horizon’s son than it is as any playable character in Apex Legends.
One key argument that could be made for Mad Maggie joining Apex Legends is her role as an announcer. With the current Ring Fury LTM, Maggie is narrating the Ring Flares and is raising cain about the Apex Games in general. This is important to note because Revenant has narrated LTMs in the past, so it’s easy to try to line them up. However, it’s an unlikely argument since Mad Maggie is so important to Fuse.
Indeed, Fuse is far from the only character with important, related NPCs. As aforementioned, Horizon has her son as motivation, Bangalore has been looking for her brother, Pathfinder is looking for his creator (and had Ash as a girlfriend for a time being), and more. With Maggie so important to Fuse as a character, it’s unlikely Apex Legends ever makes them face off.
Furthermore, building off the Revenant comparison, it’s worth noting how the two differ. Revenant hosted the LTM, had been teased before, joined the games, and had a storyline that stretched two seasons effectively (with more to come?). However, Mad Maggie isn’t important to the games; she hates them in fact. While it would be interesting to see a character who reluctantly appears in the games, Mad Maggie’s hatred of them seems like it could play out in a hundred ways, with her joining the Apex Games being the least likely.
At the end of the day, there’s a lot of reasons to think Mad Maggie could be Apex Legends‘ season 9 character. It would be interesting if the Ring Flares tied into her abilities somehow, and this could be perceived as a tease. But as Apex Legends fans learned when Revenant killed Forge, it’s best to not look too much into Mad Maggie’s future and instead focus on surviving her onslaught.
Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
