Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 2 Trailer Hypes Full Reveal Later This Week

Hitting shelves in October last year, id Software released the first entry in a new slate of Doom Eternal DLC titled The Ancient Gods: Part 1. As the DLC’s title suggests, the additional content was the beginning of a new, two-part story, with the Ancient Gods’ first iteration leaving players on a dramatic cliffhanger.

As fans speculated, the second half of the campaign looks to be dropping soon, with id Software debuting a teaser earlier today that reveals a full trailer is on its way on March 17. While the clip clocks in at just under 30 seconds long, it comes loaded with tantalizing teases regarding the next chapter of the Doom Slayer’s story.

The footage focuses primarily on a dramatic confrontation between Doom Eternal‘s silent, demon-slaughtering protagonist and the Dark Lord, who was resurrected in the climactic moments of the story’s first arc. For those who didn’t play the first DLC, the demonic antagonist was revealed to be an evil version of the Doom Slayer from hell, with this chapter essentially pitting the two relentless forces against each other in what’s billed to be “the epic conclusion to the Doom Slayer’s saga.” It appears the evil doppelganger will be suited up in an unstoppable, rune-inscribed mech and backed by legions of demonic foes, ensuring the game’s protagonist can rip and tear his way through some of hell’s most fearsome warriors.

He won’t be alone though, with the Doomslayer having back-up from an array of tanks, sword-wielding soldiers, and a giant sentinel mech with shoulder-mounted cannons. He will also come equipped with a new weapon, using a laser hammer suspiciously reminiscent of The Crucible to strike down a group of demons. It looks to be an epic final encounter for Doom Eternal and a battle that will no doubt push players to their very limits. The trailer concludes with another look at the Ancient Gods: Part 2 artwork that debuted last week, seeing the Doom Slayer go toe-to-toe with the Dark Lord.

Those wanting to catch up on Doom before the release of Ancient Gods: Part 2 can head over to Xbox Game Pass to get access to Doom Eternal’s main campaign. Although id Software’s newest iteration of the franchise has been on the service for a while, it was recently joined by an array of other Bethesda releases thanks to the publisher’s recent acquisition by Microsoft. Now, players can hop into Dishonored, Dishonored 2, The Evil Within, Oblivion, Skyrim, and more when signing up for the service.

Doom Eternal is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
