Far Cry 6 Developer Leaves Ubisoft | Game Rant

Of the many games releasing later in 2021, Far Cry 6 is one that many in the gaming community have had their eye on for a while now. With the game taking place in a brand-new, inventive setting, featuring new gameplay implementations, and with Giancarlo Esposito leading the way as the game’s primary antagonist, there’s a lot for people to be excited about where Far Cry 6 is concerned.

However, after delaying Far Cry 6 back in November of last year, there hasn’t been too much by way of official news regarding the development of Far Cry 6. With fans still waiting for a new release date for the game, it’s impossible to know right now when the gaming community can expect to hear more in terms of Far Cry 6. However, earlier today, some news came to light for a staff departure.

Marc McGinley, a senior game designer who has been working at Ubisoft Montreal for several years, announced on Twitter that today would be his last day at the studio. He said that he would miss those he worked with on Far Cry 6, with many people wishing him well. However, it begs to question as to how exactly this will impact the development of Far Cry 6.

For some fans, the lack of updates regarding the development of Far Cry 6 is fairly concerning, and now that a senior designer like McGinley is leaving the studio, it’s understandably worrying. The situation may not be as extreme as Halo Infinite losing its directors, but when a high priority title like Far Cry 6 is releasing later this year, it seems like an inopportune time to lose someone that involved with the project.

In fact, outside of Far Cry 6, there are plenty of Ubisoft games that fans have been wanting an update on, such as a possible new Splinter Cell, Beyond Good and Evil 2, and Skull and Bones. Although, it’s certainly possible that Ubisoft is waiting to provide fans with much more substantial news outside of a release date.

In the coming months, Ubisoft could potentially hold another digital event similar to last year’s Ubisoft Forward events, but there has yet to be any official announcement of any such event. It’s safe to say that Ubisoft currently has quite a lot of irons in the fire, and with any luck, Far Cry 6 will manage to deliver a fun and engaging experience.

Far Cry 6 is currently in development.
