If not for the game’s unique take on the battle royale formula or abundance of skin crossovers, Epic Games’ Fortnite battle royale may be best known for its teasers. Despite the game taking a much more lighthearted tone than other battle royales like Call of Duty: Warzone, fans have been slowly been introduced more and more to the lore surrounding the world of Fortnite, with terms like “The Seven,” the “Zero Point,” and “The Loop.”
Throughout its past few seasons, the game has begun to introduce an overarching storyline involving Agent Jones, who is tasked with bringing bounty hunters to the Fortnite island, or The Loop, in order to stop others from escaping via the Zero Point, the connection between the island and reality. As Chapter 2 Season 6 officially launches tomorrow, the game has released a new teaser featuring Agent Jones, also known in Fortnite as Jonesy.
Today, the official Fortnite Twitter account posted an image featuring what seems to be a battle-ready Agent Jones, surrounded by a war-torn version of the Fortnite island. The image is accompanied by the text, “If they won’t give us what we want. Then we’ll take it ourselves,” along with the Chapter 2 Season 6 launch date. This may be the final teaser for the upcoming season, as it seems to tie together the other teasers tweeted by the official Fortnite account in the past few days.
Just last weekend, Fortnite began tweeting clips featuring transmissions from Agent Jones, teasing what may come in Chapter 2 Season 6. One clip featured the character expressing stress over the instability of the Zero Point, and another clip revealed that he was after information on The Seven, a separate organization that has also tampered with the Zero Point in the past. Even though Jonesy initially started off in the game as nothing more than a default costume with some alternate variations, Fortnite has introduced fans to Agent Jones over the past couple of seasons, who they assume to be a Jonesy from an alternate reality.
While the game has only released tidbits of information and teasers as to who Agent Jones is and what exactly he does, fans have gathered that he is part of an organization known as the Imagined Order, which seemingly brings characters to The Loop, forcing them to compete in battle royale matches. A special Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point comic is slated to release soon, revealing more information about Fortnite‘s entire Zero Point situation.
Chapter 2 Season 5 brought fans loads of new features, weapons, POI’s, and crossovers from franchises like The Mandalorian, Street Fighter, and Alien. While it isn’t clear what the upcoming season’s theme will be, it looks like fans can be sure to expect quite a bit of changes coming their way, ones that Epic Games says are sure to “shape reality as we know it.”
Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
