Nintendo Reveals New Fortnite Joy-Cons That Come With In-Game Items

Fortnite is still one of the most popular games in the world, and thanks to its incredible sales success, the Switch is becoming one of the most popular consoles in the world as well. Considering this, it’s no surprise that there have been a number of cross-promotional efforts between Fortnite and the Switch, and now Nintendo has pulled the curtain back on the latest one: Fortnite-themed Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons.

Nintendo revealed the Fortnite Joy-Cons in a social media post where it confirmed that the bundle would be available starting June 4. The Joy-Con Fortnite Fleet Force Bundle includes blue and yellow Joy-Con controllers, with the yellow controller having an extra sticker on it to make it look like the popular banana skin Peely. However, those that decide to purchase the Fortnite Joy-Cons will get more than just the controllers.

This latest Fortnite bundle also comes with codes that players can redeem for special items in-game. This includes a special glider and pickaxe, as well as 500 V-Bucks that Fortnite players can spend in the store. This bundle joins previous Fortnite Switch bundles, which included in-game cosmetics, V-Bucks, and a Nintendo Switch console itself, and another that included a Fortnite-themed Switch console.

Pricing information for these Fortnite Joy-Con bundles are unavailable at the time of this writing. However, Nintendo made sure to plug Fortnite Season 6 alongside their reveal, which is officially kicking off on Tuesday, March 16. Details on what exactly Fortnite Season 6 will entail still have yet to be revealed, though Epic Games has confirmed that there will be a playable single-player experience to get the season started for battle royale fans.

Fortnite‘s latest season has been one of its most ambitious to date, including numerous crossovers with a wide variety of other entertainment franchises. Everything from God of War to Halo to The Walking Dead made an appearance in Fortnite Season 5, which started with a Mandalorian crossoverFortnite Season 6, meanwhile, is expected to add more DC Comics skins to the mix, though the new season is not believed to be entirely themed around the comic book company.

Luckily, speculation as to what Fortnite Season 6 will entail will come to a close sooner rather than later. As pointed out by Nintendo, Fortnite Season 6 will go live on March 16. Nintendo Switch owners won’t be able to jump in using these new Fortnite Joy-Cons, but maybe they’ll get to use them when Season 7 inevitably starts later this year.
