Payday 2 is getting even more downloadable content in the form of the Jiu Feng Smuggler Pack—the first installment in a broader DLC storyline known as the City of Gold. With over 60 downloadable items including weapon packs, outfits, and various heists, fans have no shortage of content with Payday 2. Now, the latest promises to bring the action to the city of San Francisco.
In a recent developer update, Elisabeth Elvestad, the community manager, joined Almir Listo, global brand manager, to discuss the upcoming DLC. The duo suggested that the City of Gold DLC will focus mainly on the port of San Francisco and the criminal syndicates running their illicit goods through there. Through another playable character, a San Francisco native named Joy, fans were introduced to Jiu Feng, a former triad member at the heart of the upcoming Payday 2 DLC package.
In the City of Gold DLC, Jiu Feng has marked an important item in the possession of his former employer, the triad. While players will have to wait to see how the storyline plays out, the Jiu Feng Smuggler Pack will keep them well-equipped with three new guns, nine new weapon mods, and a myriad of exciting new colors.
Inveterate Payday 2 players will know that the game’s developer Starbreeze recently overcame the financial troubles that continue to plague the game’s progress. With this in mind and a sequel to Payday 2 on the horizon, the announcement of this latest DLC content, City of Gold, comes as a welcome surprise. With the company’s problems firmly in the rearview, players can once again expect the kind of content that Payday 2 is known for.
