Anyone who loves building huge houses in The Sims 4 will know the appeal of creating a castle build. Whether it’s a straight up medieval castle with towers and a dungeon or even a more modern mansion-like castle, the game provides a lot of content with its packs for quintessential medieval builds.
However, actually making the choice on which DLC to get first and which one has the most content available for such builds, can be difficult. There are definitely pros and cons in terms of price and pack size, but even some smaller DLCs can add quite a bit for a player with strong preferences. Here’s what to invest in to build the perfect castle.
A pack which is definitely not a priority, but can bring so much into castle builds is the Romantic Garden Stuff Pack. The stuff pack is focused mainly on garden and outdoor items, and adds in a bunch of garden objects like new bushes, statues and hedges.
These items look perfect in a castle build, and a major aspect of any build is the landscaping and outdoor area of the build itself. However, if that’s not a major concern, it’s better to invest in other packs before going for this one. It’s more of a nice bonus.
The Luxury Party Stuff Pack is a very niche pack, and definitely not a favorite among Simmers. However, players going for a more modern furnishing for their castle will definitely want to consider it due to some of the fancy furnishing items it comes with.
Overall, it might be a bit too modern for a classic medieval castle, so like Romantic Garden Stuff Pack, it’s more of a preference question for players who want a few more bonus items to add to a luxurious build.
For more indoor furnishing items, Vintage Glamour Stuff Pack is actually pretty decent. Its vintage objects do look a bit too clean to be actually perfectly vintage, but they will still look nice in a castle build. Out of the stuff packs, it seems to provide the most in terms of castle-inspired furnishing.
There’s also some doors, wallpapers and curtains that look quite nice in a more old-fashioned and fancy build, without looking out of place or extremely outdated. Again, more of a preference than a requirement.
When it comes to game packs, it’s where most of the juicy content for medieval castle building is found. The Vampires game pack is absolutely fantastic when it comes to medieval building items, and many of the pre-made builds already included in Forgotten Hollow serve as great inspiration.
Everything from statues to doors, windows, wallpapers, flooring and various classy Victorian furnishing can be found in this pack. It’s an absolute must-have, and makes building castles much more plausible. Better yet, it’s not a full expansion, so it’s easy to grab.
Another good game pack that follows in the same vein as Vampires is Realm of Magic. Glimmerbrook introduced the art nouveau decoration style, but many of the objects in both Build Mode and Buy Mode work extremely well in medieval castle builds as well.
The indoor furnishing in particular is extremely lavish and fancy, designed for witches and wizards, and could very well be imagined within a castle build. Many of the other objects like bookshelves also add nicely into a fancy castle.
Get Together was one of the largest expansions to the game, filled with both modern and old-fashioned items. The best part of this pack for players looking for castle-themed Build Mode and Buy Mode items is the old town of Windenburg, which showcases the old and medieval Tudor build style.
The Tudor style can look extremely cool in particularly old castle builds. Paired up with something like the Vampire game pack, these two would make an ideal starting kit for players wanting to build castles.
Get Famous isn’t the perfect expansion for castle builds, but it’s a nice addition nonetheless due to some of the extravagantly elegant items included. The classy furnishing in particular can be ideal for castle builds, but the best are all the medieval props used for acting.
From swords on the wall to barrels to fancy gates even, this pack has a lot of quirky content which happens to fit the medieval, stereotypical castle aesthetic. It would probably be the best investment after grabbing Vampires, Get Together and Realm of Magic first.
